  • Spinnerette Ghetto Love Ep Free Download Spinnerette’S Ghetto Love
spinnerette ghetto love ep free download Spinnerette’s Ghetto Love. Johnny forwarded me an email last week. He wrote, “finally, something decent to cover.” The email came from Spinnerette , and it announced a new EP they were independently releasing, entitled Ghetto Love . We’ve been following Spinnerette on Antiquiet, starting with a retro review of the last Distillers album, through an appearance with Queens Of The Stone Age and Spinnerette’s first shows in October. I share the complaint behind Johnny’s statement- while all the hipsters are finding so much music to love these days, it all sounds like shit to us. We’ve had to resort to pot shots at fucking Fall Out Boy for fuck’s sake. But there’s this little EP, and another one from Cat Power that’s worth checking out. Ghetto Love is only four songs- Ghetto Love, Valium Knights, Distorting A Code, and Bury My Heart , all of which have been heard online and/or live. But the first two tracks are pretty hot. Bury My Heart is alright, while Distorting A Code is our least favorite. Check out the video for Ghetto Love: If you dig that, the complete EP can be heard and/or purchased here from Topspin (why it isn’t on iTunes, we do not know), bundled along with the Ghetto Love video. UPDATE: We forgot to mention- at their last show, Brody promised the full length album would arrive in February ’09. The photo at the top of the page was taken at Spinnerette’s show at Spaceland on October 29th.

December 9, 2011 http://www.usatoday.com/life/music/ontheverge/story/2011-12-06/on-the-verge-with-indie-rock-group-grouplove/51765840/1?loc=interstitialskip Grouplove grew out of friendship By Korina Lopez, USA TODAY Group love, indeed: This Los Angeles-based quintet certainly lives up to its name. "We never planned to be a band. We were friends first and we just love being together," says lead singer Christian Zucconi. "Grouplove grew organically from that love." Their debut album, with the tongue-in-cheek title Never Trust a Happy Song, is quickly spreading the love, too. Their sweet and savory mix of jangly, upbeat melodies, Zucconi's anguished howl and keyboardist Hannah Hooper's coquettish backup vocals have been making the rounds in indie rock circles and on the charts. Joyful, noisy single Colours peaked at No. 12 on USA TODAY's alternative chart. Another track, Tongue Tied, lassoed the new iPod Touch commercial, which ran during the Grammy nominations concert and has continued since Thanksgiving. Add Grouplove's lock as the opening band for Young the Giant's tour in March and April, and it's no wonder they're so lovey-dovey. Happy accidents: Zucconi wasn't always this upbeat. "Before Grouplove, I was in other bands, but the timing never seemed right," he says. "I'd wake up every day depressed, I spent so many years miserable doing music. But it's wonderful now how we overcame everything together. It's funny that Grouplove is such a happy band." The band members met each other in 2008 at an artist commune in Crete.

  • That Persistently Funky Drummer
That Persistently Funky Drummer o say that well known drummer Zoro is a man with a vision is an understatement. TTo relegate his sizeable talents to just R&B drumming is a mistake. Zoro is more than just a musician who has been voted six times as the “#1 R&B Drummer” in Modern Drummer and Drum! magazines reader’s polls. He was also voted “Best Educator” for his drumming books and also “Best Clinician” for the hundreds of workshops he has taught. He is a motivational speaker as well as a guy who has been called to exhort the brethren now in church pulpits. Quite a lot going on for a guy whose unique name came from the guys in the band New Edition teasing him about the funky looking hat he always wore. Currently Zoro drums with Lenny Kravitz and Frankie Valli (quite a wide berth of styles just between those two artists alone) and he has played with Phillip Bailey, Jody Watley and Bobby Brown (among others) in his busy career. I’ve known Zoro for years now and what I like about him is his commitment level... first to the Lord and then to persistently following who he believes he is supposed to be. He is a one man dynamo... and yes he really is one funky drummer. 8 Christian Musician: You certainly have says, “faith is the substance of things hoped Undoubtedly, God’s favor was on my life and a lot to offer musically. You get to express for, the evidence of things not seen.” I simply through his grace my name and reputation yourself in a lot of different situations/styles.

  • THE RESISTANCE - EPISODE 36 Josh Radnor - Interview Transcript
THE RESISTANCE - EPISODE 36 Josh Radnor - Interview Transcript Matt: Hello, and welcome to another episode of The Resistance. My name is Matt Conner, and I’m your host. Today I’m thrilled to sit down with actor, director, writer, songwriter, Josh Radnor. Why don’t you introduce yourself and how you normally, how do you say what you do? Josh: Oh I just say actor, writer, director, songwriter, no I don’t. You know what, you’ve hit on something that I have difficulty with, which is saying what I do. The easiest thing for me to say I do is that I’m an actor, in that I went to grad school for acting at NYU, I’ve been a professional actor for over 20 years. Most people know me as an actor. But I’ve also written and directed two films, I’ve directed music videos, I’ve written plays and prose and now I’m a songwriter and I put out albums of original music. So I guess, and I try to avoid any sort of pretentious-sounding labels, but I think I’m a storyteller, and I just tell stories in whatever form suits the story I want to tell. Sometimes it’s a 90-minute movie, and sometimes it’s a three-minute song. Matt: I love it. I love it. All within the arts in many ways. I want to get to so many things; however, we begin each of our episodes with this quote from Steven Pressfield’s book, The War of Art.
