  • Spinnerette Ghetto Love Ep Free Download Spinnerette’S Ghetto Love
spinnerette ghetto love ep free download Spinnerette’s Ghetto Love. Johnny forwarded me an email last week. He wrote, “finally, something decent to cover.” The email came from Spinnerette , and it announced a new EP they were independently releasing, entitled Ghetto Love . We’ve been following Spinnerette on Antiquiet, starting with a retro review of the last Distillers album, through an appearance with Queens Of The Stone Age and Spinnerette’s first shows in October. I share the complaint behind Johnny’s statement- while all the hipsters are finding so much music to love these days, it all sounds like shit to us. We’ve had to resort to pot shots at fucking Fall Out Boy for fuck’s sake. But there’s this little EP, and another one from Cat Power that’s worth checking out. Ghetto Love is only four songs- Ghetto Love, Valium Knights, Distorting A Code, and Bury My Heart , all of which have been heard online and/or live. But the first two tracks are pretty hot. Bury My Heart is alright, while Distorting A Code is our least favorite. Check out the video for Ghetto Love: If you dig that, the complete EP can be heard and/or purchased here from Topspin (why it isn’t on iTunes, we do not know), bundled along with the Ghetto Love video. UPDATE: We forgot to mention- at their last show, Brody promised the full length album would arrive in February ’09. The photo at the top of the page was taken at Spinnerette’s show at Spaceland on October 29th.

  • THE YOUNG GODS Bio 2010
THE YOUNG GODS Bio 2010 Twenty five years and still no sign of wearing out. However youthful and godlike your name claims you are, it is still quite an impressive feat. Bigger, stronger, higher, the Young Gods chose a manic pace five years ago and they are taking no break in 2010. Never let routine get the best of you, always go forward, this is the new moto of the Swiss trio, now a fourtet since Vincent Hänni, the creative sidekick of many years, has become a full time member. Let us be clear, 2010 is going to be quite the year in the band’s prolific history; not only because of their fascinating new album („Everybody Knows“) but also because of the audio-video boxset of their recent and diverse sonic adventures. Their twentieth anniversary, celebrated on the prestigious stage of the Montreux Jazz Festival two nights in a row with, amongst others, the participation of a symphonic orchestra, marked the beginning of a frantic course of action for the band. After a best of ("XX Years 1985-2005" packed with surprises) and a musical magazine soundtrack for Truce Diaries, they went straight into the excellent "Super Ready / Fragmenté" album, where they bravely linked psychedelic experimentations with brutal punk abandon. Even then, the biggest shocks were to come on stage. The Young Gods took their audiences on a faux- acoustic musical journey, creating in the same breath one of their most impressive albums: the timeless "Knock On Wood". Once again, they turned the whole musical formula on its back and, for one mythical show at Les Eurockéennes, unleashed their collaboration with electro hip-hop pioneers Dälek, followed closely with the Barbouze De Chez Fior string quartet performances and finishing the collaborative trilogy with Koch-Schuetz-Studer ("More To Come" in 2010).

Joe Barresi: King Of The Rock Age complimented the producer on working for the band, and “not for anyone When it comes to the production of volume-to-11 rock there’s else” – an apparent reference to record company pressures. And so, with no-one better than Joe Barresi – the latest offering from full creative control and a much larger budget to work with than before, Homme and Barresi set out to experiment more than ever and, said the Queens of the Stone Age, Lullabies to Paralyze, is latter, “create something unique.” testament to that. Paul Tingen finds out “The band rehearsed the songs at Rancho de la Luna studios [in Joshua Tree National Park in Southern California]” explained Barresi. how this complex, ear-invading metal “When they came back to LA, I sat in on a couple of rehearsals and it monster was assembled. was mainly a matter of me learning the music and seeing what worked, sonically, guitar- and tempo-wise, and so on. Then we loaded all the gear into Sound City studios and spent the first day sorting through it, plugging things in and deciding what would sound good for what parts. We had a massive array of amplifiers, guitars and drums, including some of my own stuff…” Vintage King When Barresi spoke about “some of [his] own stuff,” he was, perhaps momentarily, under the spell of the British art of understatement, for he’s the proud owner of a rather extravagant collection of assorted boxes, guitars and amplifiers. As he put it, “I have 250 guitar pedals, probably close to 45 guitars, 75 guitar amps (35 combos and 40 heads), and countless pieces of outboard gear.

Zeus Cronos, father of the gods, who gave his name to time, married his sister Rhea, goddess of earth. Now, Cronos had become king of the gods by killing his father Oranos, the First One, and the dying Oranos had prophesied, saying, “You murder me now, and steal my throne — but one of your own Sons twill dethrone you, for crime begets crime.” So Cronos was very careful. One by one, he swallowed his children as they were born; First, three daughters Hestia, Demeter, and Hera; then two sons — Hades and Poseidon. One by one, he swallowed them all. Rhea was furious. She was determined that he should not eat her next child who she felt sure would he a son. When her time came, she crept down the slope of Olympus to a dark place to have her baby. It was a son, and she named him Zeus. She hung a golden cradle from the branches of an olive tree, and put him to sleep there. Then she went back to the top of the mountain. She took a rock and wrapped it in swaddling clothes and held it to her breast, humming a lullaby. Cronos came snorting and bellowing out of his great bed, snatched the bundle from her, and swallowed it, clothes and all. Rhea stole down the mountainside to the swinging golden cradle, and took her son down into the fields. She gave him to a shepherd family to raise, promising that their sheep would never be eaten by wolves. Here Zeus grew to be a beautiful young boy, and Cronos, his father, knew nothing about him.
