September FREE Movie Nites at the Library

Bring your friends and enjoy a FREE movie at the Santa Maria Public Library. Limited seating for all movies is available on a first come, first served basis in Shepard Hall. Please arrive early to get a good seat, as the movie will begin promptly at stated. Please be aware that an adult must accompany children 12 and under in order for them to attend the films.

 Thursday, September 2nd, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Classic Film Nite: Breakfast at Tiffanys. A highly rated comedy based on the 1958 novella by Truman Capote. Holly Golightly (), a socialite with a sordid past, falls for and inspires Paul Varjan (George Peppard), a struggling writer in this mod New York romance.

 Wednesday, September 15th, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Classic Film Nite: Casablanca. One of the most memorable of all film experiences, Casablanca is a true legend. All the elements of the production—story, cast, photography, direction, and music—are woven expertly together to create a motion picture monument. Wartime refugees gather in Morocco to obtain scarce exit visas to Lisbon. The final airport sequence is an event not to be forgotten. With Humphrey Bogart, , and Paul Henreid.

 Saturday, September 25th, 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Classic Film Matinee: Gone With the Wind. Based on 's novel, Gone With The Wind has come to be recognized as exemplary of all that Hollywood embodied during the '30s. It explores a passionate romance, the adventure and spectacle of the Civil War, and a great deal of the legendary American South. Winner of 8 ® including Best Picture and Best Actress (Vivien Leigh).

 Thursday, September 29th, 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. Banned Book Movie Nite: . . Celebrating the freedom to read and the importance of the First Amendment: Banned Books Week (September 25−October 2, 2010). The Da Vinci Code has been banned because of its very controversial storyline about the children of Christ and whether Jesus was the Son of God or not. The film based on Dan Brown’s internationally best-selling book begins with a murder at the Louvre Museum. Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon is called in to assist with

the case. He finds an enigmatic riddle filled with clues centered on the paintings of Leonardo Da Vinci. He goes on an amazing worldwide adventure following leads, which could end up shaking the very foundation of Christianity. With Tom Hanks, Audrey Tautou, Ian McKellen, and Alfred Molina.

The Library’s hours are 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Mondays through Thursdays, and 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays. The Library is closed on Sundays.
