  • Actors' Stories Are a SAG Awards® Tradition
Actors' Stories are a SAG Awards® Tradition When the first Screen Actors Guild Awards® were presented on March 8, 1995, the ceremony opened with a speech by Angela Lansbury introducing the concept behind the SAG Awards and the Actor® statuette. During her remarks she shared a little of her own history as a performer: "I've been Elizabeth Taylor's sister, Spencer Tracy's mistress, Elvis' mother and a singing teapot." She ended by telling the audience of SAG Awards nominees and presenters, "Tonight is dedicated to the art and craft of acting by the people who should know about it: actors. And remember, you're one too!" Over the Years This glimpse into an actor’s life was so well received that it began a tradition of introducing each Screen Actors Guild Awards telecast with a distinguished actor relating a brief anecdote and sharing thoughts about what the art and craft mean on a personal level. For the first eight years of the SAG Awards, just one actor performed that customary opening. For the 9th Annual SAG Awards, however, producer Gloria Fujita O'Brien suggested a twist. She observed it would be more representative of the acting profession as a whole if several actors, drawn from all ages and backgrounds, told shorter versions of their individual journeys. To add more fun and to emphasize the universal truths of being an actor, the producers decided to keep the identities of those storytellers secret until they popped up on camera. An August Lineage Ever since then, the SAG Awards have begun with several of these short tales, typically signing off with his or her name and the evocative line, "I Am an Actor™." So far, audiences have been delighted by 107 of these unique yet quintessential Actors' Stories.

  • Jehovah Elohim.Mus
2 JEHOVAH ELOHIM – Jehovah (meaning “The Lord”) Elohim (meaning “God”) is the first name given to God, found in of Genesis 1:1. This name shows that God is the majestic ruler over all. Elohim is actually a plural word, and its use as the first name of God sets Him high above all other gods. It also foreshadows the later revelation of the Triune Godhead – Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Dynamics and tempo play an important part in Joel Raney’s sensitive setting of this song, so pay careful attention to them, thus heightening the song’s beauty and awe-inspiring tone. With the inclusion of VENI EMMANUEL, the anthem becomes a perfect selection for Advent. Related scriptures include Isaiah 40:1-5 and 11:1-10 and John 1:1-8. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD is a three-time Emmy-winning co-host of the fourth hour of TODAY , alongside Hoda Kotb. The Gifford-Kotb hour has been hailed as “appointment television” by Entertainment Weekly , and “TODAY’s happy hour” by USA Today . Prior to NBC News, Gifford served as the co-host of Live with Regis and Kathie Lee for 15 years, where she received 11 Emmy nominations. A playwright, producer, singer, songwriter and actress, Gifford has starred in numerous television programs and movies in her 40-year career. She has written several musicals, including Broadway’s SCANDALOUS , which received a Tony nomination. Gifford authored three NY Times bestselling books. STARRY NIGHT ENTERTAINMENT Presents starring JAMES LE GROS (“The Last Winter” “Drugstore Cowboy”) ENRICO COLANTONI (“Just Shoot Me” “Galaxy Quest”) MICHAEL SHULMAN (“Can of Worms” “Little Man Tate”) BROOKE NEVIN (“The Comebacks” “Infestation”) with DONNA MURPHY THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS and LACEY CHABERT (“The Nanny Diaries”) (“American Pie Trilogy”) (“Mean Girls”) edited by CHRISTOPHER GAY cinematography by JOAQUIN SEDILLO written by TOM NANCE directed by CRAIG SAAVEDRA Copyright Sherman’s Way, LLC All Rights Reserved SHERMAN’S WAY Sherman’s Way starts with two strangers forced into a road trip of con - venience only to veer off the path into a quirky exploration of friendship, fatherhood and the annoying task of finding one’s place in the world – a world in which one wrong turn can change your destination. The discord begins when Sherman, (Michael Shulman) a young, uptight Ivy- Leaguer, finds himself stranded on the West Coast with an eccentric stranger and washed-up, middle-aged former athlete Palmer (James Le Gros) in an attempt to make it down to Beverly Hills in time for a career-making internship at a prestigious law firm. The two couldn't be more incompatible. Palmer is a reckless charmer with a zest for life; Sherman is an arrogant snob with a sense of entitlement. Palmer is con - tent reliving his past; Sherman is focused solely on his future. Neither is really living in the present. The only thing this odd couple seems to share is the refusal to accept responsibility for their lives. Director Craig Saavedra brings his witty sensibility into this poignant look at fatherhood and friendship that features indie stalwart James Le Gros in an unapologetic performance that manages to bring undeniable charm to an otherwise abrasive character.

With great excitement and anticipation, Arizona Musicfest announces a starry lineup of exceptional artists to celebrate the return of live indoor concerts in North Scottsdale. Following the challenges and disappointments of last season, Musicfest is thrilled to regroup and renew its commitment to bringing the joy of music to all. In its largest season ever, Musicfest will produce 30 concerts between November and April. “As our community emerges from the difficulties of the last year, we are honored to engage and entertain audiences with exceptional performances that will uplift and reunite friends, neighbors, and artists around our shared love of music.” Allan Naplan, Arizona Musicfest’s executive and producing director, said. This special season’s lineup includes many great artists, some making their Musicfest debuts, while others returning due to popular demand.
