Dr. M. Larry Copeland received his medical degree from the University Of Health Sciences College Of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City, Missouri and completed his orthopedic surgery training in Detroit, Michigan. He is board certifi ed in orthopedic surgery and has served as an Associate Professor of Orthopedics at Ohio University. Dr. Copeland is past president of the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics and on the Governing Board of the American Osteopathic Academy of Sports Medicine. He also was one of the founding directors of the Colorado Orthopedic Society. In his early training he worked with the Detroit Pistons, Redwings and Tigers. Following a loss to Indoor Soccer League and college soccer player at UMass, #7-ranked Fort Lewis College (0-1) and an overtime loss at Pittman most recently was a Staff Coach for the Real #18-ranked Metro State (0-1 OT), MSC fell to No. 25. Colorado Soccer Club in Highlands Ranch, Colo. Prior to coaching at Real Colorado; Pittman spent six years at the Denver Soccer Club where he was the Academy Director. He managed the competitive program and coached numerous teams including U16 and U-17 Boys teams that were state cup fi nalists. From 2000-2002 he assisted the men’s soccer coach at Metropolitan State College of Denver in training, recruiting, academic management and scouting. The 2000 team earned a NCAA tournament berth and fi nished with a national ranking. Pittman earned a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. His Master’s of Education with a concentration in Sports Management from East Stroudsburg University and numerous coaching licenses with the USSF ( Soccer Federation) and the NSCAA (National Soccer Collegiate Athletic Association). Mesa State is a member of the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) Division II.

Nick Kirchhof ASSISTANT COACH ASSISTANT COACHES

Nick Kirchhof enters his second season as assistant coach Larry Johnson for the Mesa State men’s soccer program. Prior to coming on ASSISTANT COACH board at MSC, Kirchhof had fi ve years of coaching experience in Durango, working with the Durango Youth Soccer Association, local high school soccer teams, and as Training Director for The Academy Youth Program at Fort Lewis College. A graduate of Fort Lewis College, Kirchhof had an impressive career as s student-athlete with the Skyhawks. In his four seasons at FLC, the Skyhawks won three Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference regular season titles, as well as three RMAC tournament championships. He played in the NCAA Division II National Tournament four consecutive years (2004-2007). Kirchhof helped lead the Skyhawks to the NCAA Division II National Championship in 2005 and a second place fi nish in 2006. In his senior year Coach Kirchhof was named the RMAC Tournament Most Valuable Player. Off the fi eld Kirchhof received many conference academic awards; he was the 2008 Fort Lewis College Dr. Troy Bledsoe Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year as well as the 2007-2008 Rocky Chris Ellis ASSISTANT COACH Mountain Athletic Conference Honor Scholar-Athlete. He was a three-time RMAC Academic All-honoree and in 2007 was selected to the RMAC All-Academic First Team. Kirchhof earned a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies at Fort Lewis College.
