Minutes of the Annual General Meeting Held on Thursday, 3Rd August, 2017 at the Evangel Assemblies of God, Adabraka MINUTES OF THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING HELD ON THURSDAY, 3RD AUGUST, 2017 AT THE EVANGEL ASSEMBLIES OF GOD, ADABRAKA 1.0 OPENING & DEVOTION The following members of the seven Sub-Committees of the Bible Society of The meeting started at 1:15 p.m and the General Secretary, Rev. Dr. Erasmus Ghana were present: Odonkor welcomed members to the meeting. He invited the President, Dr. Joyce i. Prof. Benjamin Abotchie Ntreh - Translation & Literacy Committee R. Aryee, to say the opening prayer after the Hymn 24 of the Asempa Hymnal ii. Mad. Gladys Odoi - Business Committee (former member of Council) was sung. Before she led the devotion based on Psalm 23, she stood in awe of iii. Mr. Dan Dzunu - Distribution Committee God and gave glory to Him for the gift of life and for bringing us to the third day iv. Mr. Sam Otu-Boateng - Business Committee (former member of Council) of the eighth month of the year. v. Rt. Rev. Emmanuel Maclord Afriyie - Bible Week and Church Relations 1.1 Exhortation Committee (representing the Presiding Bishop, Methodist Church, Ghana) Rev. Dr. Joyce R. Aryee read Psalm 23 from the English Standard Version (ESV) vi. Mr. H.A.C.K. Kpozah - Business Committee and noted two truths presented in the passage as follows: vii. Rev. Reginald M. The depth of God’s love for His children causes Him to protect, guide and be near each one of His children, just as the good shepherd does 3.2 Other Introductions for his own sheep. Th is loss brings to mind the Akan proverb which says: Nea onipa pe na owu nso pe (What man likes, death also likes). We mourn a truly famous man, whose life and work will be celebrated and recounted for a long time to come. Born on 7 July 1945, Kwame Bediako had his basic education in Ghana. He graduated with a Bach- elor of Arts at the University of Ghana, Legon in French. He pursed Masters and Doctoral degrees in French and French African Literature at the University of Bordeaux, France, in the late 1960s. While in France he had a dramatic experience with Christ which saw him being converted from atheism to a fervent Christian life. Th is experience led him to the conviction that intel- lectual life without Christ was futile. Consequently, he decided to spend his life in Christian ministry as a scholar. He therefore started formal theological studies at the London School of Th eology from 1973 to 1976. In 1978, he off ered for the ordained ministry of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana.     Ebusuapanyin Dentist Poku Goes ‘Home’ ews of the demise of Dr. Fancis Yaw Apiagyei Poku, immediate past Ebusuapanyin of MOBA Nappeared on the various MOBA Year Group WhatsApp plaorms by mid-day on Saturday 26th January 2019. For those who knew he was sick, it was not too much of a surprise. However, for the majority of 'Old Boys' the news came as a big shock! In line with Ghanaian tradion, the current Ebusuapanyin, Capt. Paul Forjoe led a delegaon to visit the family to commiserate with them. MOBA was also well represented at the one-week celebraon at his residence at Abelenkpe, Accra. To crown it, MOBA organised a Special Remembrance Service in his honour at the Calvary Methodist Church in Adabraka, Accra. A host of 'Old Boys' thronged the grounds of the Christ Church Anglican Church at the University of Ghana, Legon on Saturday 24th April 2019 for the Burial Service and more importantly to pay their last respects to the man who had done so much for Mfantsipim and MOBA.     Africa Leadership Initiative/West Africa The Great Values Seminar Abuja, Nigeria November 29-December 3, 2006 Executive Summary : The Africa Leadership Initiative/West Africa was launched in 2006 as a joint venture of the Aspen Institute, LEAP Africa (Nigeria), Databank Foundation (Ghana), and TechnoServe and was made possible with support from the Ford Foundation (Nigeria), an anonymous U.S. donor, the UniCredit Foundation (Italy), the Databank Foundation (Ghana) and TechnoServe/Ghana. It is also a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network which seeks to develop the next generation of values-based leaders around the world. Inspired by the Henry Crown Fellowship Program of the Aspen Institute, ALI/West Africa is designed to build linkages between—and to promote open dialogue among—leaders from Ghana and Nigeria on the makings of a “good society” in West Africa. The program provides the tools and perspectives necessary for effective, enlightened leadership in business, government, and not-for-profit sectors—that is, in society-at-large. It also seeks to spur Fellows “from thought to action” by asking them to carry out individual leadership projects of their own design. The West Africa class, comprised of 24 highly accomplished Nigerian and Ghanaian Fellows between the ages of 30 and 49, met for the second time, from November 29-December 3, 2006, in Abuja, the political capital of Nigeria. Their first meeting was in May 2006 for a seminar entitled “ The Challenge of Leadership ,” in which they explored what effective leaders do and do not do . In their second meeting, the “ Great Values Seminar,” moderated by Aspen Senior Moderators Keith Berwick and Peter Reiling, the Fellows were prompted to consider those societal values they deem most important, and the trade-offs they are willing to make in seeking a good and just society.

Professor Kwame Bediako in memoriam TORMOD ENGELSVIKEN It is with deep regret and sorrow we received the message that the Ghanaian theologian and missiologist, Rev. Professor Kwame Bediako, died on June 10, 2008. Prof. Bediako was born in 1945 as the second of ten children in Agona Nsaba in the Central Region of Ghana. After finishing elementary and middle school Bediako gained entrance to the elite Mfantsipim School, Cape Coast, where his unusual intellectual and leadership gifts soon were acknowledged. He then studied French at the University of Ghana, and won a scholarship to pursue Masters and Doctoral degrees in French and African literature in French at the Univer - sity of Bordeaux, France, in the late 1960s. Having been influ - enced by French existentialism, Bediako was an atheist when arriving in France, but here, in August 1970, he experienced a rad - ical conversion to Christ, a “Damascus experience”, that changed his life. He became a fervent Christian equally occupied with intellectual reflection and practical evangelism and mission. He met his wife to be, Gillian Mary, in Bordeaux, and their wedding took place in 1973. Together they have two sons. They have had a unique and close working relationship until Bediako’s death, “a life-long partnership in Christian service” as it is expressed in the “Biography of Bediako” that was published prior to the funer - al in a booklet with several tributes ( Call to Glory .
