Target Field hosts Green Card Voices’ Immigrant Author Summit From March 23rd to March 25th, Green Card Voices held their Immigrant Author Summit at three different locations throughout the Twin Cities. One of these venues was your Minnesota Twins’ Target Field (along with The Science Museum of Minnesota and the Loft Literary Center). Green Card Voices is a non-profit organization that aspires Green Card Voices’ youth authors convene for a Meet and Greet Networking Event at Target Field to build a bridge between immigrants, non-immigrants, and advocates from across the country by sharing the first-hand immigration stories of foreign-born Americans. Their “Immigrant Author Summit” included a three-day gathering of focused and interactive networking and leadership development for 90 immigrant co-authors of the “Green Card Youth Voices” books. The summit featured networking time, panels, and workshops in order to connect GCV youth authors to one another across cultures and geographies and equip them with skills to be more effective leaders. GCV brought ten immigrant and refugee leaders from across the nation and representing different industries to engage with their authors, provide mentorship, and inspire them through their own journeys. Twins Community Fund Hosts Coaches Clinic On March 31st, the Minnesota Twins and Playball! MN hosted their annual coaches’ clinic at Target Field. Playball! MN, a program funded by the Twins Community Fund, promotes and aims to improve youth baseball and softball throughout Twins Territory. One way The Twins Community Fund and Playball! MN’s 2018 to improve youth baseball Coaches Clinic in full swing! and softball is to equip the youth coaches with everything they need to effectively teach the game and other life lessons to their players. The coaches’ clinic provides the perfect learning environment for individuals to grow as coaches and prepare to serve the youth.

This year’s clinic featured multiple breakout sessions, led by knowledgeable coaches and former players, where coaches had the opportunity to learn new strategies, tips, tricks, and connect with other baseball coaches within Twins Territory. Breakout sessions covered the topics of hitting, pitching, catching, planning practices, etc. When asked about the impact the coaches clinic has, Shane Bouman, a breakout session speaker remarked; “What a great way to connect, network with other coaches. We all want to help others to be the best they can be and share information, ways different coaches do things and find a way to improve your skills.” With another successful clinic, The Twins Community Fund and Playball! Minnesota Twins excited to participate in upcoming LGBTQ+ events As part of our 365 day Diversity & Inclusion commitment, the Minnesota Twins are currently partnering with various organizations in the LGBTQ+ community, such as Lavender, Gay for Good, and Quorum in many events and future activities. Born in Berlin, Germany, Max attended Ft. Myers South (FL) High School in time for his junior year of high school. He grew up playing many sports, such as baseball, soccer, tennis, swimming and skiing. He was given a tennis scholarship to the Steffi Graf Tennis Foundation in Berlin, and played baseball for Buchbinder Legionäre Regensburg of the Bundesliga, the highest baseball league in Germany. He won the 2016 Bill Boni Award for Twins Rookie of the Year and, in 2017, Max made his first career Opening Day roster as the Twins’ Opening Day right fielder. Max is one of 43 German-born players to play Major League Baseball entering 2018. We wish Max Kepler and the rest of the Minnesota Twins the very best as the season gets underway!.
