Course Objectives: 1. Become familiar with Arabic sounds, writing, and grammar. 2. Begin to express themselves in writing and orally. 3. Be able to pronounce and recognize Arabic sounds clearly. 4. Comprehend simple questions orally and written. 5. Take part in spontaneous dialogue on familiar topics. 6. Use short complete sentences or phrases to express personal responses. 7. Be able to read passages and short stories with some understanding of the topic presented. 8. Begin to read independently and recognize familiar or related vocabulary. 9. Become more familiar with Arabic culture and the difference between colloquial and Standard Arabic.
