Fans everywhere have debated this topic and it seems the time has come to finally answer the question pressing on everyone’s minds (yes everyone): Who is the best Chris? AHollywood is made up of many stars, and with a common name like “Chris,” it’s even harder to stand out. Of the four most famous Chrises -- Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Pine, and Chris Pratt -- with numerous collabs and crossovers between them during their careers, audiences have debated which of them is the best. In an attempt to answer this question, NHS students voted for their favorites, as well as for the funniest, hottest, the best actor, and the best role. Listen up folks, Chris Evans is the only single Chris on our list. (We’re not saying there’s a chance, just that no one’s looking to crush that dream anytime soon.) Evans, best known for his role as Captain America, is 39-years old, and has had many di erent iconic facial hair styles over the years. Evans is known to be more sensitive and passionate, o en supporting charities and visiting children in hospital...what a cool guy. He has also performed on Broadway, starring in “Lobby Hero.” Another big aspect of Evans’ life is his pooch, Dodger. Evans even got Dodger a matching sweater to repeat his iconic look in the movie “Knives Out” (2019). -
Children's Reception of Dubbed Animated Films in Spain
The Journal of Specialised Translation Issue 33 – January 2020 Straight from the horse’s mouth: children’s reception of dubbed animated films in Spain Julio de los Reyes Lozano, Universitat Jaume I, Castellón ABSTRACT Reception studies in the field of audiovisual translation (AVT) have increased considerably in the last two decades, including the target viewer in the picture. This paper presents the results of a study exploring young children’s reactions to some of the translation strategies regularly adopted in dubbed animated films. A total of 163 participants were shown nine animated film clips dubbed from English into Spanish, which included cultural references, colloquial language, educational content and songs. Data were then collected through a questionnaire adapted to the participants’ level of cognitive development and the analysis was based on two independent variables: the participants’ year in school and the number of previous viewings of the films. The results show that children do not seem to have much trouble understanding cultural, educational and musical content that is specific to the source culture and is kept in the target text. Interestingly, having previously watched the films does not appear to be a determining factor in children’s ability to identify these elements. Introduction After a hesitant start at the turn of the last century, scholars’ interest in the reception of translated audiovisual texts is now at its peak. The application of experimental methods specific to social sciences, such as questionnaires, surveys and interviews, accompanied by technological tools like eye trackers, has given researchers new tools to explore the way in which audiences receive translated audiovisual texts. -

A motion picture has been a tool for many practition- ers. Educators, psychologists, therapists, and animators have long appreci- ated and used film art in their work. Considering the increasing pervasion of the mass media into human life, its presence in many aspects of human functioning, it is necessary to pay close attention to the power of its influ- ence. It is worth noting that the products of popular culture do not only carry risks. Films created for commercial purposes also serve higher purposes, not just entertainment. Being easier in perception for the viewer at any age (through the frequency of contact with this cultural product), it can influence their emotions more strongly, encourage deeper mental work and stimulate reflection. In this article I would like to focus primarily on the possibilities of supporting upbringing and human development, referring to the assump- tions of film therapy (Kozubek, 2016). According to Depta, “the starting point of educational work with a film should be the use of such films that are most popular among young viewers while increasing their cognitive horizons” (Depta, 1983, p. 165). The potential of contemporary animated films seems to be indisputable in this respect, as will be demonstrated by the analysis of the main factor of their influence on the viewer, namely film heroes. -

This film is a huge undertaking for any director of the Star Trek franchise that has created more than 700 television shows and 12 movies. At first glance into the galaxy, I would say man has gone everywhere, but surprisingly director J.J. Abrams, who directed the first reboot in 2009, delivers a detailed storyline and a movie that is exhilarating to watch on the big screen. Moviegoers will be on the edge of their seats as they experience a brilliantly shot film, while they cheer on the Enterprise crew to succeed in battle against the evil villain of mass destruction. Once again Chris Pine ("Bottle Shock," "Rise of the Guardians") returns as Captain Kirk and Zachary Quinto ("Margin Call," "Heroes," "American Horror Story") portrays Spock. As with the cult popular television series, it is the ensemble cast that makes it all work, with Zoe Saldana ("Avatar") as Uhura, Karl Urban ("The Lord of the Rings") as Bones, Simon Pegg ("Ice Age") as Scotty, and John Cho From left: Zachary Quinto is Spock and Chris Pine is ("Harold & Kumar") as Sulu. It should be noted that not one Kirk in "Star Trek Into Darkness" from Paramount of these cast members is a scene hog like William Shatner Pictures and Skydance Productions. Tiptoes Lightly and the gnomes, Pine Cone and Pepper Pot, are high in the Snowy Mountains and have been waiting for Jack Frost to turn up. They have a question for him. he sun went down. It colored the snow pink and orange. Then the moon came up. She was still thin and sharp, but her light made the snow shimmer silvery-blue. TTiptoes and the gnomes sat still and listened. Suddenly they heard a crackling noise. “It’s Jack Frost!” cried Tiptoes, and ran outside. Pine Cone and Pepper Pot ran after her. Jeremy Mouse only stuck his head out of the snow cave. He didn’t want Jack Frost to nip his toes – and certainly not his tail! “Jack Frost! Jack Frost!” cried Tiptoes. “We’ve come to pay a visit.” Jack Frost landed next to them. He was pale, icy blue, and his arms and fingers were long and glistening. His eyes were sharp, and his wings crackled like breaking ice whenever he moved. He looked so fierce that Pine Cone and Pepper Pot were afraid to open their mouths. It became so chilly they wrapped their beards round their necks and pulled their hats over their ears. “Afraid I might nip your noses?” crackled Jack Frost at the gnomes.
