Pettitt (Deceased) • S. Gilvear PROUDLY SPONSORED BY President’s report In the season 2016/17 we entered 7 senior teams and 11 junior teams (4 in modified cricket) in the Parramatta District Association. In addition we had our In2Cricket program with 50 registered players and 25 registered player at our T20 Blast program. While numbers were slightly down on last year, it was a lot easier to manage player numbers and grounds. Congratulations to our premiership winning teams being B3 – They are the every consistent team, playing in the last 4 years semi finals and winning 2 of them. Well done to Hubert and his team. Let’s hope the consistency occurs again next season. Unfortunately the weather didn’t help our cause in the Semi Finals, as we had 8 teams being eliminated without a ball being bowled. We continued with our overseas cricket program and this year we had Sam Weller come and play for us. Sam bought a lot of experience to our club having played for Kent XI. Although Sam didn’t break ‘Emu’ record he was the spear head opening bowling we were looking for, but we wished he didn’t bring the English weather with him as this certainly cost a number of teams. We will continue to look at this program as the committee believes it’s a worthwhile process. There were many fine performances this season; however this year’s Bob Downing – President’s Trophy goes to James Pettitt from our A Reserve. James who scored 640 runs @ 45.71 and also took 10 wickets @ 23.7 with a best of 3/12. Well done James. The cricket club were fortunate enough to be finalist at the Leagues club sub clubs awards night. However, we didn’t take away any awards this year. Appreciation must go to our Senior Captains, Coaches, Managers and Scorers, not only for running proceedings on the field, they have many responsibilities off field as well. To all the committee for your continued support, without your commitment it would make the job even harder than what it currently is. We have to remember that all of us on the committee are doing this for the love of cricket and the club and it is a voluntary role. The club this year had the services of Louise Frendo, who I’m sure all of you are now familiar with. Louise has bought a wealth of cricket administration service to the cricket club and has ensured that matters can be dealt with in a timely and efficient manner. Thanks Louise for your help and the committee would agree that it makes our jobs so much more easier. Thanks to our sponsors, Wenty Leagues, Terry Shields Toyota, Sydney Physio’s, Gearonline, JAW Trophies, Bridgestone (Merrylands) and Party Shuttle Bus. Your financial help is gratefully appreciated. I look forward to seeing you all back at the club next season. Regards Justin Isaacs President Wenty Leagues Cricket Club Annual Report 2016 - 2017 3 Secretary’s report What a busy year the 2016/17 has been with all the different forms of cricket we have had within the club from Milo In2Cricket through to Seniors and approximately 430 players. Behind the scenes we have worked on bringing the club together with our Team App which for the teams that have been using it, it has worked really well. Hopefully we will get more members joining next season so we can continue to grow this useful tool. With more things going on behind the scenes next season we will start our new system for payments where you will receive an invoice for registration, presentation and any other payments that will be needed to be made. On the cricket front it was a shame about the wet weather we had to wash out the semi finals which ended up knocking out 8 of our teams and only leaving us with 2 teams going through to the finals. Congratulations to the B3 and 11/1 Grey for making it to the finals for 2016/17 and to B3 for taking out the win! We appreciate all the volunteers that have been a Coach, Manager or Scorer this year without all your hard work the teams are not able to operate effetely. To help with the scorer we will be offering a scoring course next season for everyone wish to do, this will be on how to score in the scorebook and on the scorer app, so keep a look out for more information. I personally would like to thank Justin and the whole committee for the support that has been given to me in my first full year being involved with the club. We look forward to having our members return for the 2017/18 season. Thank you also to all the committee for their support, especially Hubert for his willingness to front the gear shed as many times as necessary – greatly appreciated. Overall, it was a fairly disappointing season with only 7 senior grades teams playing. Numbers in each team were good, but as usual during the Christmas period, teams were often short and relying on juniors to help out. To the teams who gave their juniors an opportunity to really participate and encouraged them to challenge themselves, thank you, because by welcoming and encouraging our juniors, we are fostering future senior players. Team results throughout the season fluctuated, but in the end, we were beaten by a combination of factors: not having a club coach, and at the end of the season, the weather ruined opportunities for teams to advance to the finals. We had 4 of 7 teams which could have advanced to the finals, but with the semi-finals being washed out and advancement based on quotient, only the B3 team had the opportunity to play the grand final. And, after a hard fought match, Hubert and his team were the only Wenty team to win the Grand Final.

Type the abstract of the document here. The abstract is typically a short summary of the contents of the document.] Edinburgh Cricket Club Junior Season Report 2015-2016 In the past 12 months Edinburgh Cricket Club has grown to become the second largest cricket club in Victoria. This has come about in part due to A LOOK a demographic surge in area but also, we like to think, because the Burra BACK AT is a great place for players of all ages to enjoy cricket. The number of junior SEASON teams has doubled in the past 3 years from 8 teams in season 2012-13 to 16 2015-2016 teams in 2015-16. The most exciting development this season has been the advent of our under 15 girls’ team. Women’s cricket at the Burra has been up and running for over a decade now with the woman this year taking out the WCCC North West Premiership. This season our number one priority was getting a girls’ team up and running. Slowly over the preseason numbers gathered and we just had enough players for the start of the ECA Anna Lanning Spirit competition, which runs on a Wednesday evening. Despite their ages ranging from 8 to 13, the girls quickly bonded into a team and before long were playing some great cricket. Word spread and numbers grew over the season so that next season we hope to have 2 teams.

  • CROYDON HOCKEYERS CRICKET CLUB 1967 – 1998 a Trip Down Memory Lane
CROYDON HOCKEYERS CRICKET CLUB 1967 – 1998 A trip down memory lane Introduction I have been on the RDCA Executive for the past 14 years and during that time have come to see and read publications documenting a club’s history to date and/or milestones. It got me thinking that should the old Hockeyers cricket club scorebooks be lost, that part of our club history would disappear in time. Some four years ago, Brian Gobbi and Bill Stafford did some research into Tommy Derham’s statistics and that became the catalyst for me to commence writing the history of the club. It became a bit of a target to coincide the production of a book with a reunion to be held during the fiftieth season since the cricket club was first formed. The Hockeyers story started in 1967 and, having joined the club in 1973, I was privy to a lot of Hockeyers history and thereafter the subsequent progress of the merged entity. Hockeyers had a 25 year reunion back in 1992 and a lot of statistical information was extracted for that event. Many thanks for their efforts go to Doug Ford, Brett Haines, Wayne Burgess, and others I have not mentioned, who compiled that senior detail. That information became the cornerstone of what appears in the book and I then used various resources to expand on that and introduce additional elements to the story. Although the scorebooks for the first four seasons cannot be located, the retention thereafter has been pretty good, with only the odd one missing, and that has assisted the exercise greatly.

  • Secretary's Report 2014/5 the 2014-5 Season Was Another
Secretary’s Report 2014/5 The 2014-5 season was another successful and enjoyable one for the West Ryde Rovers Cricket Club, mainly due to the hard work of our committee and our coaches; the dedication and skills of our players; and the enthusiasm and never ending support of the parents and friends! I would like to acknowledge Kerrie O’Brien who this year stood down from the Secretary role after 3 years of super human efforts and a small presentation has been arranged for Kerrie in appreciation of her hard work. Thanks also to Alan Harrison, who after many, many years with the Rovers Cricket Club has decided to step away and get on with his retirement. I will miss his sage advice on club administration as well as his Aladdin’s Cave of cricket gear (some call it a garage). If anyone is missing any players from the 1992-93 season, check with Alan as they may still be in the back somewhere. Additionally, we have established an Alan Harrison perpetual trophy, to be awarded each year to the Best Junior Batsman, so that Alan’s service to Rovers cricket is long remembered. Our Treasurer, Chris Fairbairn, also deserves a mention for his efforts this season. Not only has he kept the books, he managed our First Grade team and also took on the role of our In2Cricket co-ordinator, all of which he did very well and in good spirits. Many thanks Chris!! Our webmaster, Philip Mundy has also done an outstanding job with our website. I encourage all club members to book-mark the home page to stay up to date with what is happening with our teams and the club in general.
