The storied private country club has seen its once blustering membership dwindle over the years. On April 24, 2009 the Wanango Golf Club replaced the historic country club and opened its doors for business, this time welcoming the public not just private members to enjoy on the premier gold course in all of Pennsylvania. Matt Hart and Todd McLaughlin are now operating the course. “We will maintain a certain amount golf memberships but we want everyone to know that Wanango is open to the public and we welcome them to enjoy one of the finest golf experiences in Pennsylvania. We will make them feel welcome to golf here.” said Hart. McLaughlin talked about undertaking such a huge challenge at a time when privately funded country clubs are a falling by the way side in large numbers. “I don’t know how long it will take for the perception of Wanango being a private country club to change, but that image is going to change. Yes, the social elite built this club, but if it is going to survive it is the blue collar community that will make it last. It’s a huge project to tackle especially in these economic times, but it has always been a dream of mine to run a facility like this and make it accessible to everyone, not just a select few. “ Wanango has long been a fixture in Venango County serving as a premier recreational and social club. “Our goal is to build on that legacy opening the former country club so everybody in the Venango County area can enjoy this historic community asset. We will continue to host the fund raising events like golf tournaments and gala affairs and parties in our ballroom. We will make the club more accessible by offering packages that offer tremendous value.” Sandy K. Hovis, LUTCF Agent 857 Allegheny Boulevard, P.O. Already the new owners have dramatically sliced the cost of golf memberships. The charming Clubhouse with its huge fieldstone fireplace offers a comfortable, yet elegant setting. Both the informal porch and spacious Dining Room overlook the 18 th green of the golf course, making the clubhouse ideal for weddings, banquets and parties. Hart commented on plans for Wanango Golf Club “The golf course will be the primary focus for the immediate future, but we are forging ahead with plans that will maintain the tradition of fine dining and catered affairs that Wanango has been famous for over the years”. The first step is to transfer the Liquor License. Wanango’s new management team hopes to have that accomplished by June. Once the license is in place Joe McLaughlin, Todd’s brother will assume the duties of General Manager. For now though McLaughlin and Hart are inviting the public to play golf on the historic Donald Ross designed golf course. During the month of May a special golf rate of $25 for 18 holes and a cart on weekdays, and $35 for 18 holes and a cart on weekends. “Our regular rates are very competitive with other public venues in northwest pa.” said McLaughlin. Tee times are strongly encouraged. To book a tee time golfers can call 814-677-5130. The course is located in Reno, Pa about halfway between Franklin and Oil City. A sign at the intersection of Fifth Street and Route 8 & 62 directs the public up the hill to Wanango Golf Club. 2020-45 LONG RANGE TRANSPORTATION PLAN ADOPTED JUNE 23, 2020 This page intentionally left blank 2 Northwest Pennsylvania Commission 2020-45 Long Range Transportation Plan Prepared for: Northwest Commission 395 Seneca Street P.O. Box 1127 Oil City, PA 16301 (814) 677-4800 http://northwestpa.org/transportation/ By: Michael Baker International 4431 N. Front Street Harrisburg, PA 17110 (717) 213-2900 June 23, 2020 Our Regional Geographic Position The Northwest PA region includes a 5-county area located in the northwestern corner of Pennsylvania. It is one of the state’s smallest transportation planning regions by population, yet consists of nearly 3,600 square miles of land area (or an area roughly half the size of New Jersey). The region’s location just off the shores of Lake Erie also makes it an area with one of the harshest environments in the state. The region is situated within the winter snowbelt, and annually receives upwards of 100 inches of snowfall, along with 40-48 inches of rain. PennDOT typically spends anywhere from 100 to 150 days a year de-icing the region’s roadways. Geologically, the region is located within the broader Appalachian Plateau region, with deposits of glacial till that can run more than 200 feet deep. This environmental phenomenon can substantially drive up the costs of bridge maintenance and construction, just as much as the region’s freeze and thaw cycles can adversely affect roadway conditions. The region in general is very rural, with a population density of only 64 persons per square mile. In addition, significant portions of the region are quite remote and inaccessible, with limited access to the national Interstate system.

  • Airport Gaming
Airport Gaming Q: What type of gaming will be available? Airport gaming will be permitted on multi-use computing devices, such as iPads and other similar computer tablets and devices. Gaming options could include slots, blackjack, roulette, poker and other table games. Q: Within which airports could these be located? Publicly owned commercial service airports can offer airport gaming through an agreement with one of Pennsylvania’s existing casinos that has been issued an interactive gaming certificate by the PGCB. However, airports are not required to offer the gambling options, and each airport will decide on its own whether it wants to engage in this offering. Publicly owned commercial service airports include: Harrisburg International Altoona-Blair County Airport Pittsburgh International Airport Airport John Murtha Johnstown- Arnold Palmer Regional Airport University Park Airport Cambria County Airport Bradford Regional Airport Lancaster Airport Venango Regional Airport Lehigh Valley International Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Dubois Regional Airport Airport International Airport Philadelphia International Erie International Airport Williamsport Regional Airport Airport Q: Who will be able to gamble in airports and at what age? Individuals 21 years of age or older who have cleared security check points and have a valid airline boarding pass for travel from one destination to another are eligible to participate in airport gaming. Q: Will the gaming resemble slot machines in the Las Vegas Airport? No. McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas has slot machines that are similar to those in Pennsylvania casinos. Pennsylvania’s new law permits gaming in publicly owned commercial service airports only through the use of multi-use computing devices like iPads and other similar tablet computers.
