The following schedule of events is as of 6/10/09. The final brochure should be available for distribution no later than July 1. Oil City Firefighters MDA 5K Run/Walk Chairperson: Jake Hoovler Date: July 18 Time: 9AM Location: West First & Petroleum Streets Spectators are welcome! Trophies will be awarded in various categories. Pre-registration is preferred. Oil Heritage Children’s & Young Adult Art Show Chairperson: Evelyn Wheeler Date: July 21 - 23 Time: 10AM-4PM Location: National Transit Building Annex, Third Floor The Third Annual Art Show to foster the creativity of our youth! Artists ages 5 – 18 can submit work in 3 divisions, Elementary, Middle School and Young Adult in any of six categories: painting, drawing/graphics/mixed media, 3D, photography, computer generated/enhanced, Oil150. Ribbons and cash prizes will be awarded. For applications or information call 814-673- 6392 or email [email protected] . Applications and work must be submitted by July 17 th . Applications and work must be submitted by July 17 th Tiny Tot Contest Chairperson: Amanda Fedorek Co-Chairperson: Sara Klapec Sponsor: Youth Alternatives, Inc. Date: July 20-24 Location: Voting takes place at Festival Headquarters on Seneca St. This contest is open to all children ages 1-3 years old. A prince and princess will be crowned for Oil Heritage 2009. Parents, Guardians, and Grandparents can submit a wallet-sized photo by July 17 th to YOUth Alternatives. Photos can be sent by mail or dropped off to 1 Graff Street, Oil City or 1243 Liberty Street, Franklin. Please include the child’s name, age, birthday, parents name and address, and a phone number where you can be reached on Friday, July 24 th at 6pm. Voting will take place at Festival Headquarters on Monday, July 20 th until Friday, July 24 th from 8am until 4:30pm each day. Voting is done by the donation of money. The boy and girl who raise the most money will be crowned Prince and Princess. First place will each receive a $75 savings bond and runners up will each receive a $20 gift certificate to Wal-Mart. A Walk through Historic Downtown Oil City Chairperson: Kay Dawson Co-Chairperson: Carrie Richey Date: July 22 Time: 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM Location: Starting Location will be the National Transit Building Rain Location: Cancelled if Raining This is a walking, self-guided tour through Oil City’s North Side. You will visit former establishments to discover interesting trivia about Oil City’s downtown and its history. Tour requires plenty of walking, please come prepared. Children’s Pet Show Chairperson: Kathy Bartlet Co-Chairperson: Carla Wheeler Date: July 22 Time: 6 PM Registration, 6:30 PM Judging Location: Justus Park Rain Location: under the Veterans bridge Pets will be awarded ribbons in different categories. All pets must be in a cage or on a short leash. The child must be able to control/show their animal. For children 5-12 years, no cost. Business of the Year Tribute Luncheon Date: July 22 Time: Noon Location: The Arlington Hotel Join the Venango Area Chamber of Commerce as we honor Venango Regional Airport as the 2009 Business of the Year! The Chamber will also honor Visionary Award Recipients. Please call in your reservations to the Venango Chamber at 814/676-8521. Concert featuring vocalist Rita DiDominic and the Bob English Quartet Date: July 22 Time: 8 PM Location: The Arlington Hotel Cash bar and light refreshments. Dance floor available. Thursday Events Oil Valley Quilters Guild Quilt Show & Fabric Bazaar Chairperson: Judy Fridley Date: July 23 Time: 9 AM – 5 PM Location: Trinity United Methodist Church The local quilter’s guild will hold a quilt show and fabric bazaar during the Oil Heritage Festival. Come browse the various quilts and shop for fabric to create your own beautiful quilts. Cancelled in case of severe weather. Begins on Seneca Street near parking ramp area, ends at Justus Park. For children up to 12 years of age. Lineup and Judging will begin at 11:00 AM. Registration is necessary so the entries can be judged. Categories: Patriotic, Wheels, Cartoon Characters/Superheroes, Sports, Animals, and Historic Figures. Registrations are available at festival headquarters. Entrants must register by 10 AM. Power of the Word Ministry Mini-Carnival Chairperson: Deanna Blauser Co-Chairperson: Mary Shirey Date: July 23 Time: 11:00 AM Location: Power of the Word Ministry, 301 Duncomb St. Join us in celebrating “Oil 150” for great food, children’s games, and raffles. Food is prepared by former owners of the Colonial and Five Forks Restaurant. Variety of food items are available including: hot sausage, hot dogs, taco-in-a-bag, bbq ham sandwiches and more. Proceeds benefit the Power of the Word Ministry Youth Group. Oil Heritage Days Public Luncheon at Grace United Methodist Church Date: July 23 Time: 11:00AM – 1:00PM Location: Grace United Methodist Church Homemade sloppy joes, BBQ ham sandwiches, egg salad, chicken salad, salads (tossed and fruit) homemade pies and cakes. All food items are priced at $1.50 each. Coffee, hot tea, lemonade & iced tea available for $.50 each. Pipeline Alley Date: July 23 Time: Noon - 4PM Location: Pipeline Alley off Seneca Street Located in the beautiful alleyway next to the National Transit Building. Browse various non- profit booths and visit the beautiful Victorian Garden. Summer Harvest Mart Chairperson: Judy Gerzina Co-Chairperson: Judy Karg Date: July 23 Time: 11AM- 6PM Location: Central Avenue Plaza An extraordinary Home & Garden Show for all our local decorators and gardeners. Featuring a farmer’s market with fresh produce, flower sales, and landscaping items. Registration forms for vendors are available by calling the Chamber of Commerce at 814/676-8521.
