    Israel’s Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Weapons By Stephen Lendman Region: Middle East & North Africa Global Research, May 17, 2012 Theme: Militarization and WMD 17 May 2012 Israel’s long known open secret is its formidable nuclear arsenal. Less is known about its chemical and biological weapons (CBW) capability. More on that below. In 1986, Dimona nuclear technician Mordechai Vanunu revealed documents showing what many long suspected. Israel had been secretly developing, producing and stockpiling nuclear weapons for years. Experts called his information genuine. They revealed sophisticated technology able to amass a formidable nuclear arsenal. Today it’s more potent than ever. In his 1991 book titled “The Samson Option: Israel’s Nuclear Arsenal and America Foreign Policy,” Seymour Hersh discussed its strategy to launch massive nuclear counterattacks in response to serious enough threats. In his 1997 book titled “Open Secrets: Israeli Nuclear and Foreign Policies,” Israel Shahak said Israel won’t hesitate using nuclear or other weapons to advance its “hegemony over the entire Middle East.” In 2006, former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told Germany’s Sat. 1 channel: “Iran, openly, explicitly and publicly, threatens to wipe Israel off the map. Can you say that this is the same level, when they are aspiring to have nuclear weapons, as America, France, Israel and Russia?” Later he denied what viewers clearly heard him say. Calls for him to step down followed. So did accusations of ineptitude for acknowledging Israeli nuclear weapons publicly. Israel always stuck to its nuclear ambiguity position. Olmert later backtracked. Damage control didn’t assuage criticism. Opposition party members called him irresponsible.

Deputy Director Since its inception in 1994, the Center for the Study of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD Center) has been at the forefront of research on the implications of weapons of mass destruction for U.S. security. Originally focusing on threats to the military, the WMD Center now also applies its expertise and body of research to the challenges of homeland security. The Center’s mandate includes research, education, and outreach. Research focuses on understanding the security challenges posed by WMD and on fashioning effective responses thereto. They would have found a lot of evidence and witness accounts of Israeli use of chemical, as well as biological and nuclear, weapons against the Palestinians and their Arab neighbors. The attacks started in May 1948 and are still going on in one form or another. The Zionist gangs under the directive and leadership of David Ben-Gurion, who became the first Israeli Prime Minister, had adopted a military policy of genocide, extermination and total destruction of the indigenous Palestinian inhabitants and their towns in order to evacuate the land for outsider Zionist Jewish occupiers. The first WMD they used was biological weapons as documented by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). In May 1948 the Zionist gangs besieged the well-fortified Palestinian city of Acre, which could stand the siege for a long time. The city water supply came from a nearby village name Kabri through an aqueduct. To shorten the siege and to enter the city, the Zionist gangs injected typhoid in the aqueduct. Many Palestinians and some 55 British soldiers, who were in the city, got infected.     Ann Ig 2016; 28: 3-7 doi:10.7416/ai.2016.2079 CELEBRATING PUBLIC HEALTH LIVES Marcus (Marek) Klingberg, 1918-2015 Marcus (Marek) Klingberg, 1918-2015 On 30 November 2015, in Paris, at the age of over 97, the long, fruitful and astonishing life of Marcus (Marek) Klingberg came to an end. In addition to his epidemiological skill, which was appreciated worldwide, Marek was a true man, a skillful research organizer, a fascinating teacher and – consequently - a friend to many public health scholars of my generation, both in Italy and abroad. I first got in touch with him in the Early Seventies, when I dedicated myself to epidemiological studies on congenital malformations. With some colleagues, we were trying to establish a monitoring system also in this country. Marek was very kind in helping us and – in order to propagate the idea - we published together a paper in a leading Italian journal of medicine (Minerva Medica) (1). The year before, in 1974, he had been among the founders of the International Clearinghouse for Birth Defects Monitoring Systems, established with the help of the March of Dimes as a communication tool to make it easier to share data collected by monitoring systems of 4 G.M. Fara different countries, using agreed standard methods and format (2). Many members of the Clearinghouse were also active in the European Teratology Society, for which I had agreed to organize in Italy, September 1976, the 5th Conference, whose program was ready before the summer vacations of 1976. During the preparation of the Conference, which was due in September 1976 in Gargnano on Lake Garda, in a fascinating summer location of the University of Milan (my academic work-place at that time), a dramatic event shook the scientific and sanitary world.
