Site Graveyard ============================== 1. Introduction ============================== The reason I decided to make this guide was primarily because I just wanted a reference for myself, but this can also to benefit all of you, if you find ED’s list of imageboards too hard to read. It’s just super great to see all the websites which have been derived from just a few. I think it’s cool. If you have an idea as to how I might make this guide more accessible, feel free to contact me. While I’m selfabsorbed enough to flout my opinions to the public, I don’t consider myself an authority on any of this, and I know that, at some points, I’m just blogging. I’m sorry if you find that annoying. I’d be happy to listen to your suggestions on presenting forum or whatever, and I could even add what you’ve said, if you’d like me to. ★ I’ve used a star to denote websites that I find are extra cool. ★★ For A+ websites I’ll evaluate the forums in these criteria: 1. First Impressions 2. Navigation 3. Content 4. Attractors 5. Making Contact 6. Knowledge of Users 7. Making Contact I’ve also omitted most of the honeypots and porn, as their decline and being taken down is probably inevitable, and they have no substance, anyway. To expand on that, I’d estimate that there’s more than a few hundred sites comparable to an imageboard made just for porn, and I don’t really want to dredge up that stuff. Due to how everchanging their addresses are, I did not put in the effort to include sites accessible by means of Tor or i2p or anything like that. If you’re not familiar with most these kind of sites, please be aware that the content on anonymous boards strikes a contrast with the rest of internet communities in terms of content and conventions.

#Russianrapisracist vs #RussianNaziPurgeParty: On Geopolitics, Trolling and the Mistranslation of Race in a Twitter Controversy Dinara Yangeldina Introduction I am currently being trolled by Russian rap fans in droves posting straight up Nazi propaganda. The Russian hip hop scene is extremely racist. It’s being led by racists like @sdthaking and i1official (@Talib Kweli 2020)1 The above tweet was posted at the end of February 2020 in the middle of a heated Twitter controversy between famous us rapper Talib Kweli and the Russian hip-hop community, in which he described the en- tire Russian rap scene as racist, Nazi and state sponsored.2 Thе scandal quickly spread to other social media platforms and got extensive cover- age online and even on the official Russian tv channels. But what exactly 1 In the wake of a harassment-related scandal Talib Kweli was permanently banned from Twitter on 4 July 2020. It is for this reason that none of his original Tweets are available anymore. The retypes of tweets are based on screenshots circulated in sec- ondary sources or collected by me during the initial stage of research for this chapter (the same applies to Twitter screenshots used here but not available in the original to reference). 2 Talib Kweli is a rapper known for his outspoken activist stance against police bru- tality and racial oppression in the usa. His early recognition is linked to the criti- cally acclaimed band Black Star, which he formed together with Mos Def in 1997 in Brooklyn, New York. This style of hip-hop, known as conscious hip-hop, is usually juxtaposed with gangsta rap.

  • Rap Music in the Wake of the Los Angeles Riots
Recognizing the Enemy: Rap Msic in the Wake of the Los Angeles Riots Theresa A. Martinez University of Utah The May 1992 riots in Los Angeles demonstrated more than anything in recent history that the inner cities are filled with despair, hopelessness, and anger. Some feel that rap music is responsible for both gangs and the lawlessness unleashed by the riots. This paper will seek to address this notion by looking at the rap lyrics of artists who have been considered the most radical and the most angry. By examining rap lyrics we can detect anger and frustration in the ghetto. Rap music did not cause rioting in Los Angeles but it effectively heralded measures taken by inner-city residents who are tired of governmental and societal ne glect of their community, their homes, and their lives. The Watts riots of 1965 shocked the nation and the world in their devastation and their intensity. And Watts was only the beginning: major riots broke ou t in Cleveland, Newark, andDe troit) Today we are reeling from the aftershocks of yet another series of riots in Los Angeles and other major cities across the nation in May of 1992. The riots seem to be unnerving reruns of the early violence in Watts,2 motivated by the same disillusionment with oppression and racism) Many sought causes for the rioting among the rioters-the poor area residents of South Central Los Angeles,4 citing a so-called "poverty of values"s among the rioters. This is a disquieting echo of "riff-raff" theories that emerged after the '60s rioting.

  • 1 "Disco Madness: Walter Gibbons and the Legacy of Turntablism and Remixology" Tim Lawrence Journal of Popular Music S
"Disco Madness: Walter Gibbons and the Legacy of Turntablism and Remixology" Tim Lawrence Journal of Popular Music Studies, 20, 3, 2008, 276-329 This story begins with a skinny white DJ mixing between the breaks of obscure Motown records with the ambidextrous intensity of an octopus on speed. It closes with the same man, debilitated and virtually blind, fumbling for gospel records as he spins up eternal hope in a fading dusk. In between Walter Gibbons worked as a cutting-edge discotheque DJ and remixer who, thanks to his pioneering reel-to-reel edits and contribution to the development of the twelve-inch single, revealed the immanent synergy that ran between the dance floor, the DJ booth and the recording studio. Gibbons started to mix between the breaks of disco and funk records around the same time DJ Kool Herc began to test the technique in the Bronx, and the disco spinner was as technically precise as Grandmaster Flash, even if the spinners directed their deft handiwork to differing ends. It would make sense, then, for Gibbons to be considered alongside these and other towering figures in the pantheon of turntablism, but he died in virtual anonymity in 1994, and his groundbreaking contribution to the intersecting arts of DJing and remixology has yet to register beyond disco aficionados.1 There is nothing mysterious about Gibbons's low profile. First, he operated in a culture that has been ridiculed and reviled since the "disco sucks" backlash peaked with the symbolic detonation of 40,000 disco records in the summer of 1979.

You were born in Russia, spent your teenage years in America then moved back to Moscow as an adult. Do you feel more Russian or American? It doesn't really work that way. But when you have emigrated as often as I have, you learn the benefits of being an outsider. I am very comfortable not belonging. I find it extremely beneficial to my work as a journalist to be highly attuned to this culture yet at the same time hovering outside of it. I do sometimes bristle at this idea people have that my having been born in Russia qualifies me to talk about Donald Trump. I'd rather people said 25 years of studying totalitarianism qualifies me to talk about Donald Trump.

  • Casablanca Jungle Music and Positive Youth Development in Morocco
Casablanca Jungle Music and Positive Youth Development in Morocco Figure 1. Audience of L'Boulevard 2018 (i.e. music festival in Casablanca) A master thesis in International Development Written by Maha Rhannam ID: 11598891 Under the supervision of Dr. Oliver Seibt Second reader: Dr. Olga Nieuwenhuijs Graduate School of Social Sciences University of Amsterdam 2 Abstract This thesis will be discussing the impact of music engagement on urban youth in Morocco, and more particularly the ways in which music contributes to the empowerment of this population. It will also explore its implications on development strategies in the country. Multiple studies have discussed the evolution of hip-hop in Morocco, however they have failed to encompass the impact of this genre (and other genres as well) on the urban youth of the country. For these purposes, this research aims at uncovering the imprints of music in this day and age on the Moroccan urban youth, both musicians and music aficionados, in the current political and social climates of Morocco. This research is based on an ethnographic study of music-related events (concerts, workshops and open mics) in Casablanca. In order to understand this population segment, qualitative interviews were conducted; all of which demonstrate to some extent the ways in which music empowered, individually or collectively, the aforementioned participants. It seems that music acts more as a “bandaid” for the Moroccan urban youth, as shall be presented throughout this research. Considering the inexistence of a functioning music industry in the country as well as a brittle educational system, this thesis calls for governmental strategies to re-evaluate the importance of arts within education, setting them at the forefront of development strategies in light of the development pathways this could open up for Morocco.
