Feeder Cresson and Feeder Edmond flow almost along two thirds of the site before joining to form Riviere Gros Ruisseau. Feeder Augustin which starts half way in the East of the site flows South –easterly to join Riviere Gros Ruisseau just before the latter flows outside the site at its South eastern boundary with St Aubin Sugar Estate. Two tributaries, Feeder Rivet and an unnamed Feeder flow along about a quarter of the site before joining to form Riviere Ruisseau Marron which winds down and out of the site with three to four loops flowing inside and out along the Eastern edge of the site. Feeder Enterrement starts in the middle of the last southern quarter of the site and flows more or less straight out of its eastern boundary with St Aubin Sugar Estate. The escarpments of the feeders and the Rivers vary from smooth slopes, steep slopes to almost vertical slopes and the vegetation consists predominantly of almost the same type of introduced species but with Ravenale ( Ravenala madacascariensis ) as the most dominant species, (see Fig. -

P o n t Summary Information about the Fanniidae and Muscidae Houseflies of the south Atlantic island group of Tristan da Cunha, from the earliest records to the most recent findings, is presented and discussed. In total, five species belonging to four genera are recorded. This includes the finding for the first time of Fannia albitarsis St e in , 1911 in the archipelago and Muscina stabulans (Fa ll e n , 1817) on Nightingale Island. Based on material collected in 2005 from the two northern islands, Tristan da Cunha and Nightingale, records and notes are given on four species. A discussion of the correct taxonomic rank of Coenosia trina W ie d e m a n n , 1830 is given. The apparent proliferation of this species, and the possible implications that this may have on endemics, is noted. -

The end of the reef facing the old naval target island of Kahoolawe is called Reef's End and has shark ledges, larger fish, drop offs and strong currents on most days. -

Science College, Patan, Gujarat-384 265 Abstract: A preliminary study of spiders was carried out in June 2012 to July 2013 from five sites around Biosciences, Vallabh Vidyanagar. As the results of collected spiders, total 90 species belonging to 66 genera spread over 24 families are recorded from five sites of Vallabhvidyanagar. The dominant family Araneidae had the highest number of species (18); followed by Salticidae (13), Thomisidae (10) and Tetragnathidae (7), Oxyopidae (5). Most of the other families had less than 5 species. This small region has detected more than 5% of Indian spiders. Keywords: Spiders, diversity, Anand, Gujarat 1. Johnson USDA Forest Service, Pacific Southwest Research Station, Institute of Pacific Islands Forestry, Volcano, Hawaii, USA [email protected] Abstract Cryptorhynchus melastomae Champion (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) is a stem boring weevil from Costa Rica under evaluation as a potential biological control agent for the invasive tree miconia, Miconia calvescens DC. (Melastomataceae). Adult C. melastomae feed externally on miconia foliage and stems, and larvae bore stems. Under lab rearing the life cycle of C. melastomae averages 218 days from egg deposition until death. Eggs hatch within two weeks; larvae undergo rapid growth for the first 70 days and pupate around day 111. Adult eclosion occurs at day 140, and the mean adult lifespan is 75 days, although it is not unusual for adults to survive 4-6 months. Adults reach sexual maturity at one month, and females lay large eggs at a rate of 3-6 per week up until death. Larval feeding can result in death of the distal portion of stem, and adult feeding can severely impact growing tips and leaf veins. Thirty two plant species, including a variety of natives and non-natives within the order Myrtales, were tested to assess potential non-target impacts of this weevil. No-choice and multi-choice tests with adult C. melastomae revealed a host range restricted to melastomes (family Melastomataceae), all of which are invasive weeds in Hawaii. -

PhytoKeys 136: 1–21. https://doi.org/10.3897/ phytokeys.136.38558 Abstract The systematics of Tryssophyton, herbs endemic to the Pakaraima Mountains of western Guyana, is re- viewed and Tryssophyton quadrifolius K.Wurdack & Michelang., sp. nov. from the summit of Kamakusa Mountain is described as the second species in the genus. The new species is distinguished from its closest relative, Tryssophyton merumense, by striking vegetative differences, including number of leaves per stem and leaf architecture. A phylogenetic analysis of sequence data from three plastid loci and Melastomata- ceae-wide taxon sampling is presented. The two species of Tryssophyton are recovered as monophyletic and associated with mostly Old World tribe Sonerileae. Fruit, seed and leaf morphology are described for the first time, biogeography is discussed and both species are illustrated. -
Holland Landing Prairie Provincial Park
HOLLAND LANDING PRAIRIE PROVINCIAL PARK One Malaise trap was deployed at Holland Landing Prairie Provincial Park in 2014 (44.11894, -79.48795, 271m ASL; Figure 1). This trap collected arthropods for twenty weeks from May 1 – September 22, 2014. All 10 Malaise trap samples were processed using the bulk sample analysis protocol. A total of 2345 BINs were obtained. Over half the BINs captured were flies (Diptera), followed by bees, ants and wasps (Hymenoptera), moths and butterflies (Lepidoptera), and true bugs (Hemiptera; Figure 2). In total, 544 arthropod species were named, representing 26.1% of the BINs from the site (Appendix 1). All the BINs were assigned at least to family, and 60.5% were assigned to a genus Figure 1. Mr. Sclater called the attention of the Meeting to several interest- ing species of Mammals and Birds observed during his recent visit to the Gardens of the SociCtC Zoologique d‘Acclimatation of Paris. Amongst these were particularly noticed an example of the Orys beisa of Riippell, being the only living specimen Mr. Sclater had seen of this fine Antelope, and some examples of the new variety of the Scemmering’s Pheasant lately described by Mr. Gould (Ann. N. H. ser. 3. vol. xvii. p. 150) as Phasiunus (Gruphophasianus) scin- tillans. It appeared that this variety had been received from Yoko- hama, Japan, while the ordinary Phasianus sminmeringii was stated to be found near Simoda, so that the probability was that these two birds were representative forms inhabiting different islands. Mr. Alfred Newton exhibited from the collection of William Borrer, Esq., F.L.S., a specimen of the Sylvia apzlatica of Latham, which had been obtained in England, as certified by the following note from that gentlemeu :- “My specimen was shot on the 19th of October, 1853, in an old brick-pit a little to the west of Hove, near Brighton, and was stuffed by Mr. H.
