Winter 2003 UCLA Schedule of Classes Archival Edition Deadlines December 20, 2002: Last Day to Pay Fees January 3, 2003: Classes Dropped January 6, 2003: Instruction Begins January 17, 2003: Last Day to Enroll 2 UCLA Schedule of Classes Winter 2003 What’s New? eBill No more paper BAR statements. Beginning in December 2002, BAR accounts will be administered electronically (eBill) through URSA. Monthly financial activity is displayed as well as past account activity for the last six months. URSA also provides a link to the Student Accounting website where students can find important communications from the university regarding registration and university policies. Students can pay their BAR account electronically using Visa, MasterCard, or Discover Card. Students with a valid e-mail address established through URSA receive monthly e-mail reminders prior to payment deadlines. Students may request to have a paper BAR statement sent. A paper BAR statement is generated each month if the unpaid balance due is $25 or more. To receive a paper statement, students must go in person to the Student Accounting Office, located at B303 Murphy Hall. Paper statements are mailed after the first of each month and may be paid by check or money order or by Visa, MasterCard, or Discover Card. Classroom Lecture Halls Another one bites the dust. At the end of Winter quarter, Life Science auditorium with 220 seats will be demolished to make way for the new Luck Center. A replacement lecture hall, La Kretz Hall, with about 350 seats is expected to be ready for classes by Fall 2004. The elimination of the Life Science auditorium coupled with the out-of-service Dickson auditorium with 406 seats will make for some tight room scheduling for a few years. Classes may go later in the day to accommodate scheduling for all the large classes. Variable Topics Class Descriptions Classes that offer variable topics through individual sections will now have class descriptions displayed in the Schedule of Classes and in URSA. No more guessing what the class is about by the title alone. For an example, see Honors Collegium 98, the Fiat Lux seminars. Students can now view the descriptions of all the individual seminars.
