Nonfood Compounds Registration

The NSF Nonfood Compounds Registration Program assists manufacturers with formulating and marketing safe chemical products for use in food and beverage processing facilities. The program addresses the toxicology, odor potential and intended use classifications for a wide range of products including: cleaning, laundry, antimicrobial, hand care, pesticide, absorbent/anti-slip and sewer treatment products. Launched in 1999, NSF’s Registration Program is based on previous USDA requirements established in the US FDA 21, 9 and 40 CFR.

Benefits of Registration

With the ever-increasing need to safely reduce and eliminate microbiological, chemical and other physical contaminants in food manufacturing environments, processors must select products that meet safety and HACCP requirements. NSF’s Registration Program gives manufacturers the benefit of an independent, third-party review that validates the safety and non-toxic properties of their product formulations. Registration with NSF's Nonfood Compounds Program will:

• Open new distribution channels to food and beverage manufacturers • Increase credibility and distinguish your products in a competitive marketplace • Reaffirm your commitment to safety • Secure brand protection for your customers' products

Brand Distinction

Products meeting the NSF requirements are issued a unique Registration number and provided with three tools to communicate their products' safety and quality to their customers:

1. Official Registration Letter 2. Listing on www.nsfwhitebook.org 3. NSF Registration Mark to use on their products
