Lake Superior Lowland Region What are important characteristics of this region? Why are they important? Lake Superior touches the northern boundary of the region. Lake Superior makes the region cooler in summer and warmer in winter. The Apostle Islands are a group of 22 islands in Lake Superior and are a part of the region. Copper Falls in Copper Falls State Park. The water is brown because of the dying plants in the water. There are several waterfalls on rivers in the region. Many people like to go to the Door Peninsula for recreation. Lake Michigan touches the eastern shore of this region. This great lake is important for recreation and transportation. .
