AUGUST 9, 2015

ot Springs native Kelsey Bean and HTexas native Kirk Van Slyke fell in love during college at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. They were both student athletes at the time—Kirk played basketball and Kelsey ran track. The two quickly became best friends. “He was what I most looked forward to every day,” Kelsey said. Their dating relationship was one adventure after the next, especially during a nine-month stint when Kirk played professional basketball overseas in Japan. “No number of miles could have kept us from supporting each other,” she said. “The distance was an opportunity for us to grow in our love together.” Indeed it was, as Kirk proposed as soon as he returned. It was a magical moment atop Pinnacle Mountain.

MARCH 12, 2016

fter completing nursing school at Duke, Kristen Amoved to Houston to begin her career at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Jarrod, native to Houston, was in his second year at Caldwell Companies. Matchmakers David Towery and Lauren Brandom decided to set them up on a double date—a late night spent bowling at Dave & Buster’s marked the first of many dates. A year later, Jarrod couldn’t wait any longer to ask Kristen to be his bride. He planned an elaborate surprise at a destination special to them in Brenham, Texas. He proposed in a moment the couple still says was the most surreal of their lives. The duo chose a destination wedding in Hot Springs at The Arlington. The city holds a special place in Kristen’s heart after many childhood trips with her now late father. His favorite hotel was The Arlington, and there was nowhere else they’d rather be on their wedding day.

AUGUST 22, 2015

ot Springs native Caitlin Angel met Hher future husband Matthew Sunseri while in college at Louisiana Tech. A chance encounter caused Caitlin to add Matt as a friend on Facebook. A first date soon followed, and even after a funny date mishap—Caitlin spilled leftover food in his car—a loving relationship quickly grew. In December 2014, Matthew proposed. It was a private, meaningful moment where Caitlin says he eagerly shared his love for her and asked her to marry him. Matthew was so excited; he put the ring on the wrong hand. And this was no ordinary ring. He went to great lengths to get it for Caitlin. After finding the one he wanted to give her, Matthew discovered it was a discontinued style. He didn’t let it go. In his mind, it was her perfect ring. Matthew called and the company agreed to make one more just for her.
