We consider the wedding ceremony to be a sacred event where the bride and groom pledge themselves to one another in the presence of God and begin to build a strong and rich Christian marriage. With this conviction in mind, we have established some important policies, gathered some important information, and retained a wedding coordinator, all in an effort to make your wedding go as smoothly as possible. It is the wish of the ministry of First Church, as well as the church family, to make every wedding a beautiful and worshipful event, and to extend every possible courtesy to each wedding party. To this end, we are privileged to offer the services and facilities of the church in accordance with the policies and procedures outlined in these pages. Scheduling You will want to plan as early as possible so that the use of church facilities can be arranged without conflict. Call the church office and ask for available dates. The date of the wedding will be set after consultation with the pastor and the church building coordinator. Preference is given to members and persons associated with this church and their children. Because of complicating factors, it is not possible to schedule weddings or receptions on Sundays or holidays. Also, December weddings are discouraged due to the many holiday events at the church. Saturday weddings must be scheduled no later than 3:00pm and the building must be released to the custodial staff by 4:30pm.

Whether it was for holi - Cdays, baby showers or birthdays, there was always an event in the works. “It’s kind of in my blood,” said Bauer, deposit relationship manager at Rabobank for almost 12 years. “I have done many of the bank’s events and love it.” The idea to branch out to organize additional events came about in 2009, when Bauer was the chairwoman for the Bakersfield Women’s Busi - ness Conference. Bauer gave the conference the makeover it needed by freshening up the logo, serving different food and changing some spon - sorships. Her committee fundraised more than ever, and tickets for that year’s conference were sold out. “You are really planning a party for 1,500 peo - ple,” said Bauer. “I remember my dad saying, ‘What’s next?’” Bauer pondered that question and after the conference, several event planners reached out to her about being a day-of coordinator. This idea sparked something inside of her. So from July through November, Bauer did her research and came up with a name and logo dear to her heart.

We pray God’s blessings upon you as you are about to enter into that special relationship called marriage. This booklet will cover a two-step process in which we will hopefully answer some of the questions you may have. We are honored and excited to help and guide you through the Preparation for Marriage, and to host your Christian Wedding Service. In our Christian Wedding Service, Christ is at the center of all that we do, and that you desire His presence at your wedding service is a wonderful thing. A Christian wedding is a service of worship, asking Christ’s blessing upon the marriage. The pastor and the congregation unite in prayer with the wedding couple to share in their joy. It is also a legal act in which the pastor acts as an official of the state. There is also a time to have a social expression of the marriage. However, this is to be kept separate from the wedding service. This social celebration can take place at the reception after the wedding service. We are definitely happy for you! We need to get the most important part done first! You should meet with the pastor as soon as possible after setting the date for the wedding. This will help work out the details regarding the wedding service and to help you plan for the marriage through pre-marital counseling. 2 I. Preparation for Marriage Before we plan your wedding ceremony, the church will work with you to help you prepare for your new life together as husband and wife.
