CONCRETE Description

Location: Local – TBD Department: Field Reports To: Foreman / Foreman Lead FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Travel Required: Local, up to100% Revision Date: 09/01/2019 Overview The Laborer will perform many tasks that require physical labor on sites in all types of weather. May operate hand and power tools of all types: air , earth tampers, cement mixers, concrete saws, surveying and measuring equipment, small equipment and skid steer loaders. May clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support form work, erect scaffolding, clean up rubble and debris, and tear out concrete. Will assist other craft workers and take instructions. In addition, they will position and secrete steel bars or mesh in concrete forms in order to reinforce concrete through a variety of fasteners, rod-bending machines and hand tools. The Concrete Laborer will assist other craft workers when required as well. This position will learn their trade through on-the-job training.

Primary Responsibilities / Essential Functions Essential functions may include the following tasks, knowledge, skills and other characteristics. This list of tasks is illustrative only and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by positions in this class, nor does it necessarily list all possible duties that may be assigned. ▪ Assist in building and positioning forms for pouring concrete and dismantles forms after use, using saws, hammers, nails, bolts or form hardware. ▪ Dig ditches and levels earth to grade specifications, using pick, shovels and rakes. ▪ Grade dirt and concrete efficiently and accurately. ▪ Erect and disassemble scaffolding, shoring, braces, and other temporary structures. ▪ Mix concrete and mortar. ▪ Clean construction site to eliminate possible hazards. ▪ Assist to align, straighten, plumb and square forms for installation. ▪ Construct forms, then assist in raising them to the required elevation. ▪ Install and tie rebar and wire mesh. ▪ Install handrails. ▪ Load and unload trucks and haul and hoist materials. ▪ Care, clean, and organize form material in shop, in truck and at a job site. ▪ Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment, such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights, and brakes in order to ensure that vehicles are in proper working condition. ▪ Load and unload trucks, vans, or automobiles. ▪ Report any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles and/or equipment and immediately notify . ▪ Check fluid levels on all equipment and vehicles. ▪ Lubricate and clean machinery, equipment, and tools. ▪ Use power sprayer or washer. ▪ Keep jobsite, trucks, and equipment clean. ▪ Report any unsafe work practices or safety hazards encountered on the job to the Foreman / Foreman Lead. ▪

▪ May be required to perform tasks from other job descriptions depending on available work and schedules, i.e. wall/foundation building as form setter, earthwork, etc.

Experience, Education, and Certifications ▪ 0 – 6 Months of experience in similar position/industry ▪ Skills and : o Learn the positions basic responsibilities within 30 days o Accomplish tasks with minimal supervision o Continue your own concrete industry education and knowledge

Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. ▪ Work is accomplished primarily outdoors, occasionally indoors, and in all types of weather conditions/environments. ▪ The employee will be exposed to and working near moving mechanical parts and equipment. ▪ Constant and proper use of personal protective equipment is required and will be provided by the Company (i.e. , safety vest, safety glasses, and safety gloves). ▪ If additional personal protective equipment is required for specific projects the Company will also provide harnesses, respirators, face shields, toe guards, ear plugs, etc.
