Job Description

The following is a basic job description for a laborer. The list is not intended to be all-inclusive, but rather a basic guide as to the general job duties and requirements.

Ø General laborer to work for road construction and rock crushing company. Laborer will be responsible to work on rock crusher, road construction projects, utility projects, grading projects, and asphalt plant

Applicant Requirements

§ Must be highly safety oriented § Must be able to pass pre-employment § Must be able to perform physically demanding work, such as shoveling, lifting, climbing, and standing for long periods of time § Must be able to lift 80 lbs § Must have reliable transportation § Must be able to work out of town § Must provide own accommodations for work out of town

Job Responsibilities/Duties

§ Follow all MSHA and OSHA regulations § Follow Company, Safety and Drug policies § Wear all required PPE § Inspect all equipment (light plants, compactors, skid steer, saws, ladders ect.) and tools, report any service needed to

AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER § Fill out daily inspection logs § Conduct daily service of equipment, such as fueling and greasing equipment § Keep equipment clean and free of dirt and oil wipe hand levers and knobs and steps, clean out all trash § Check oil and fuel in generators, and equipment on site § Check fuel in tanker report to supervisor if low § Perform daily housekeeping of work areas, such as sweeping, picking up tools and garbage. Report any broken or defective tools § Keep vans and trailers clean. Sweep, pick up tools, clean windows, empty trash. Inspect hand rails and walk ways, repair if needed § Use proper lifting techniques, use hoisting equipment for heavy loads, lower parts, do not drop § Use cables to move loads, be sure cables are of adequate size and replace any worn, badly frayed, broken or kinked ones. Check connections for wear § Keep supply piles stacked in orderly safe area § All oil, gas, batteries hazardous material must be contained in a authorized approved containment area § Perform daily site inspections: o Report all maintenance problems to supervisor o Repair or replace any missing guards or safety barriers o Inspect ground conditions, high walls, trenches, material piles o Check for missing, cracked or frayed v-belts o Adjust belts o Inspect motors o Inspect electrical cords and splices for damage report any defects § Keep over flow piles shoveled down around crushing equipment § Change screens on screening plant § Follow all OSHA trenching and confined space regulations § Only enter trench after it is inspected by competent person § Stay inside trench boxes while working in trenches § Always check straps and chains for defects before using on pipe § Use caution when mobile equipment is operating near edge of excavations § Do not work under suspended loads § Keep shop clean, swept, tools picked up, spills cleaned up § Assist shop mechanic and oiler in repairs and service § Follow all shop rules and regulations
