Catholic Studies & The Pirates of Irish Persuasion and Extraction (PIPE) proudly present a dramatic reading of G. K. Chesterton’s Father Brown: The Invisible Man Catholic Life in Literature Series with Dr. James McGlone: Tuesday, April 10 at 7:30pm / Theatre in the Round – UC Dr. James McGlone, Professor Emeritus of Catholic Studies and Communications, will present a reading of G. K. Chesterton’s Father Brown Story: The Invisible Man I remember an old song called "Hail! Hail!, The Gang's All Here," a boisterous affair to be rendered in a favorite pub surrounded by hearty friends with healthy lungs. That's exactly my mood, when our Celtic Theater troupe joins G. K. Chesterton enthusiasts to present Himself(Mark Fallon) disguised as literary story-teller, G. K. Chesterton, to bring the delightful Father Brown to life. As one critic said about this bemused, gentle, quiet cleric, he solves "some of the most bizarre crimes ever recorded: a killer who can't be seen“—this evening's tale—”a man's head brutally crushed by one blow of a small hammer“—last year’s mystery—and "a famous man who commits 'a fearful sin' by figuratively growing a forest to hide a leaf," maybe next year's criminal endeavor. You see, our players share Chesterton's concern with saving the souls of his criminals as well as following the spiritual clues that lead to capture. And tonight, we add for your theatrical delight, the flamboyant Flambeau to our cast of characters. Ready! Set! Lights! Commentary by: Father Ian Boyd, Editor of The Chesterton Review and Dr. Dermot Quinn, Associate Editor of The Chesterton Review. This event is also sponsored by the Tuesday—April 10th G.K. Chesterton Institute For Faith & Culture. @ 7:30pm Theatre in the Round Please contact Gloria Aroneo for more information at University Center [email protected] or call (973) 275-2808.
