On Sunday February 25th 2018 at 5.30 pm, Paolo Roversi will present at Galleria Carla Sozzani the photographic book “Dior Images Paolo Roversi”, published by Rizzoli International. The talk will be introduced by Emanuele Coccia.
The volume Dior Images Paolo Roversi comprises a series of iconic pictures taken by the photographer and published in leading fashion magazines over the last twenty-seven years, from Vogue Italia, British Vogue, Vogue Paris, and W. The collection of these images features creations by Dior’s artistic directors Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferré, John Galliano, Raf Simons, Maria Grazia Chiuri, and models Naomi Campbell, Natalia Vodianova, Laetitia Casta, with a preface by Italian philosopher Emanuele Coccia.
Fashion monograph and photographic portfolio, this book contains exclusive pictures from a photoshoot directed by legendary Grace Coddington and includes designs by Christian Dior himself.
Emanuele Coccia is an Italian philosopher, Associate Professor at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) in Paris. He received his PhD in Florence and was formerly an Assistant Professor of History of Philosophy in Freiburg, Germany. Among his publications: La trasparenza delle immagini. Averroè e l’averroismo (Bruno Mondadori, Milan 2005), La vie sensible (Payot et Rivages Paris 2010) and Le bien dans les choses (Paris 2013), La vie des plantes, Une métaphysique du mélange, (Paris, 2016). He worked on the history of European normativity and on aesthetics. He lives and works in Paris.
Paolo Roversi (Ravenna, 1947) is a fashion photography luminary who has collaborated with top brands and publications on advertisements and editorials. In 1996, he won the Trophée de la Mode Paris and in 2001 and he was awarded the China Fashion Award. In 2000, he exhibited in Milan at Galleria Carla Sozzani; in 2002, in New York at the Pace/MacGill Gallery; in 2006, in Japan at Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse Number 1; in 2008, at the Rencontres d'Arles; and in 2009, at the Camera Work Galerie in Berlin; in 2017 in Milan at Palazzo Reale and at the Fondazione Sozzani. He lives and works in Paris.
