My sister came along when I was 2. We weren’t the closest of sisters growing up, but we’ve made up for lost time as adults. The best times growing up were at my dad’s cabin on 100 acres in Vermont, where we spent every summer. We had woods, we had wetlands, we had a pond for swimming and a stream we could wander along all day till we got to (what we perceived to be) a large waterfall. My parents, especially my father, believed in raising free were tough. On Friday night, we will have small group gatherings (a la Friendly 8s) in people's homes, for dessert/snacks and query consideration. Institute for Group Discernment January 16-19, 2015 Tilikum Retreat Center, Newberg, Oregon The Institute for Group Discernment offers the opportunity for folks from various denominations, organizations and Yearly Meetings across the country to gather in community to explore the various facets of group discernment. The retreat makes it possible to go beyond just training for process. It allows participants to explore and share the spirit, the stumbling blocks and the practical applications of Listening together in the Presence of God. Among the topics that will be considered are: Biblical foundations of group discernment; How we personally hear God; How leadership functions in group discernment; How spiritual giftedness interfaces with group discernment; Clearness Committees; and more.
