Scope and content: The James G. Bogle collection contains photographs, slides, periodicals publications, and memorabilia associated with Stone Mountain, DeKalb Historical Society, the Mary Gay House, historic sites, and railroads.

Biographical Sketch of James G. Bogle: James G. Bogle was a native of Tennessee, but resided in DeKalb County, Georgia, from 1956 until his death in 2010. Bogle was a graduate of Georgia State University. He married Mary Alice Clark, with whom he had two children, Alice and James Jr. He served in the U.S. Army for 31 years, retiring in 1967 with the rank of Colonel. As an amateur photographer, Bogle took photographs of many historic sites around Georgia, including Stone Mountain. He was also an active member of many area historical societies, including the Historical Society and the DeKalb Historical Society.

Description: The James G. Bogle Collection consists primarily of photographs and slides taken by Bogle. The collection also includes memorabilia from Stone Mountain and other historic Georgia sites. There are maps of Stone Mountain Park, photographs and slides of historic houses and railroads, and papers related to the Mary Gay House in Decatur. One box includes publications on the Civil War, Library, Egleston Children’s Hospital, DeKalb Historical Society, and the Mary Gay house. The collection also contains issues of the periodical Georgia Journal from 1990-1998, a National Zip Code directory, and various objects related to historic houses and railroads.
