  • Quassy Wins Prestigious 'Turnstile Award' from Industry Publication
Quassy Wins Prestigious ‘Turnstile Award’ From Industry Publication BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Quassy Amusement & Waterpark, Middlebury, Conn., received one of the industry’s highest honors Saturday (Sept. 12, 2015) evening during the 2015 Golden Ticket Awards. Quassy, an iconic, family-owned property was the recipient of the 2015 Turnstile Award presented by Amusement Today (AT) Publisher Gary Slade during the gala event at Gargiulo’s Restaurant here. The Golden Ticket Awards are one the most prestigious honors within the amusement park industry and are compiled by the magazine, which has its offices in Arlington, Texas. In naming Quassy as one of his Publisher’s Picks for 2015, Slade noted that Quassy owners George Frantzis II and Eric Anderson have spent most of their lives at the lakeside property. “Today, both George Frantzis II and Eric Anderson oversee daily operations of the park and have been credited with the rebirth of the property and development of its new Splash Away Bay waterpark,” Slade said before presenting the award. “The two seasoned park owners set the stage in 2002 to rebuild itself with a $6 million multi- year redevelopment plan,” he added. The investment included the opening of the first phase of the waterpark in 2003 and led to the eventual building of its marquee attraction: Wooden Warrior roller coaster, which debuted in 2011. “Without their vision, Quassy – in operation since 1908 - could have met the fate of many New England parks of yesteryear and ceased to exist. But George Frantzis II and Eric Anderson did not let that happen. They reinvested and rebuilt to bring record revenues to Quassy, thus keeping the turnstile turning.

He was instrumental in my growth as a reader and writer. Warmest thanks to Robert Pope, professor emeritus from the University of Akron. He is, without question, one of happiest professors and individuals I have ever known. His contagious personality and encouragement went a long way in my first few semesters, as well as his honest feedback and suggestions. We sit at the sweet spot of broad trends driving the “experience” and “membership” economies, while being insulated from the online threats impacting so many companies. I am very proud of our outstanding team members who overcame unprecedented natural events to deliver our eighth consecutive year of record financial performance in 2017. I am even more excited about our future as we continue to build our lucrative, recurring revenue base. In 2017, Adjusted EBITDA (1) grew two percent, and our Modified EBITDA (1) margin remained the industry high. We returned $727 million to shareholders in the form of stock repurchases and dividends and delivered a 16 percent total return. In addition, we increased our dividend twice since the third quarter 2017 to an annual run-rate of $3.12 per share. This marks our ninth consecutive year of dividend increases and provides a yield more than double the S&P 500, making us the ultimate growth and yield stock. Over the course of 2017, we made notable progress to advance all our five major growth areas: 1) Took pricing up 3-5 percent on all our tickets, while reaching new highs in our value-for-the- money-ratings and achieving the most successful pre-sale
