ARIZONA WILDLIFE CONSERVATION ARIZONA WILDLIFE NOTEBOOK GARRY ROGERS Praise for Arizona Wildlife Notebook “Arizona Wildlife Notebook” by Garry Rogers is a comprehensive checklist of wildlife species existing in the State of Arizona. This notebook provides a brief description for each of eleven (11) groups of wildlife, conservation status of all extant species within that group in Arizona, alphabetical listing of species by common name, scientific names, and room for notes. “The Notebook is a statewide checklist, intended for use by wildlife watchers all over the state. As various individuals keep track of their personal observations of wildlife in their specific locality, the result will be a more selective checklist specific to that locale. Such information would be vitally useful to the State Wildlife Conservation Department, as well as to other local agencies and private wildlife watching groups. “This is a very well-documented snapshot of the status of wildlife species – from bugs to bats – in the State of Arizona. Much of it should be relevant to neighboring states, as well, with a bit of fine-tuning to accommodate additions and deletions to the list. “As a retired Wildlife Biologist, I have to say Rogers’ book is perhaps the simplest to understand, yet most comprehensive in terms of factual information, that I have ever had occasion to peruse. This book should become the default checklist for Arizona’s various state, federal and local conservation agencies, and the basis for developing accurate local inventories by private enthusiasts as well as public agencies. "Arizona Wildlife Notebook" provides a superb starting point for neighboring states who may wish to emulate Garry Rogers’ excellent handiwork. -

Final Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement Watdog Project Plumas National Forest Chapter 3. Affected Environment and Environmental Consequences 3.1 Changes Between the Final Environmental Impact Statement and the Final Supplemental Impact Statement Edits, minor changes, and clarification were completed throughout this chapter to augment the extent of the analysis and clarify information previously presented. Changes and supplementary analysis were accomplished to respond to agency and public review and comments on the Draft Supplemental EIS. Most notable of the changes include additional discussion on potential effects to: wildlife species under the No Action Alternative, snags and associated snag-dependent wildlife species, soils and California Wildlife Habitat Relationship size classes 4 and 5 landscape structure types linked to Old Forest-associated species (in particular the American marten and Pacific fisher). Clarification of design criteria and practices related to black oak stand treatment practices and down wood retention design features relative to size class were incorporated. Additionally, sawlog values were updated to reflect recent market data along with clarification of the Secure Rural School Self- Determination Act. This chapter summarizes the physical, biological, social, and economic environments of the project area and the effects of implementing each alternative presented in Chapter 2. It also presents the scientific and analytical basis for the comparison of alternatives. 3.1.1 Scope of the Analysis The existing condition describes the baseline condition against which environmental effects can be evaluated and from which progress toward the desired condition can be measured. Environmental consequences form the scientific and analytical basis for comparison of alternatives, including the proposed action, through compliance with Forest Plan standards and a summary of monitoring required by the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA) and National Forest Management Act. -

Page i PREFACE The U.S. Air Force (Air Force) Pollinator Conservation Reference Guide (Reference Guide) was developed collaboratively by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) and Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC). The Air Force, through AFCEC and with the assistance of USFWS and the state fish and wildlife agencies, is responsible under the Sikes Act (16 U.S.C. 670a-670f, as amended) for carrying out programs and implementing management strategies to conserve and protect biological resources on its lands. AFCEC assists installation environmental programs to ensure military mission activities are conducted in compliance with all applicable environmental laws, regulations, and policies. The primary objective of Air Force natural resources programs is to sustain, restore and modernize natural infrastructure to ensure operational capability and no net loss in the capability of Air Force lands to support the military mission of the installation.
