Erin received a Bachelor of Science in Photojournalism from the University of , and has worked as an art director and designer for over 20 years. She has served in this capacity for Pentagram, Danilo/Black Inc., Roger Black Consulting, Men’s Journal, Premiere, TVSM, Inc., Village Voice, Washington Post, and Whittle Communications. Her clients have included J. Crew, The National Enquirer, Star, Bloomingdale’s, JD Jungle, Entrepreneur, Automobile, Reader’s Digest, Red Herring, Editor & Publisher, Internet World, Builder, San Francisco Examiner, Smart Money, Guitar Player, HOW, PC Magazine, Las Vegas Magazine, Yankee magazine, Metropolis, The Museum of Fine Art, Houston, Lands’ End, Random House, Yale University Press, Bright Sky Press, Chronicle Books, Abrams Books, City of Austin Cultural Arts Division, and Society of Illustrators.

Since leaving Pentagram in 2006, she founded Em Dash LLC, a graphic design firm in Austin, Texas. Her clients include National Geographic Society, Simon & Schuster, Random House, Society of Illustrators, Denison University, University of , The University of Texas, UT Press, Texas Monthly Custom Publishing, and The Texas Observer.

Her work has received awards from the American Institute of Graphic Arts, the Society of Publication Designers, the Type Directors Club, Print magazine, CASE, and American Illustration.

Erin taught editorial design at the School of Visual Arts in New York from 1999-2001, and has been teaching advanced visual design at the University of Texas as Austin since January 2007.
