Main topmast staysail 57 V4 V3 111C Following the plan, attach the four yards (57, 68, 75 and 79) to the front of the foremast. 111D Now prepare the three sections of the mainmast, following the plan. The mainmast (81) with fittings and top, the main topmast (106) and the main topgallant mast (112) following the same process as with the foremast. 111A Retrieve the spritsail A D yard (20) and secure it to the 81 bowsprit with the parrel (23). Tie the parrel to the yard, then pass it over the bowsprit and secure the free end to the yard. 20 112 106 B E 64 111B Retrieve the foremast yards (57, 68, 75 and 79) prepared in Stage 110 and paint them with wood stain. Create the stirrups (64) with 0.5mm brass wire, creating a loop, then twisting the wire around and finally looping it over the yard. Follow the foremast plan to fit all the parts to the yards, as shown. 111E Once prepared, paint the mainmast sections in the same way as you did the 79 75 68 57 foremast. Then, once dry, combine the sections and add any blocks and fittings. 245 USS CONSTITUTION 111F To make the bell bracket F I (86), cut a 15mm length of brass rod and bend to a curved 86 right angle, as shown. Mizzen topgallant staysail Jack flag V5 112C Now prepare the four yards (172, 180, 183 and 185), as well as the boom (187) and the 167 V6 gaff (191), with all their rigging and fittings, according to the plan. D V8 22mm 15mm 113A Rig the bracing lines (17) A according to the bowsprit plan. 113D Create a grating from strips received in previous stages, 22mm long and 15mm wide. E 17 C 44mm B 113B Follow section D of the 26 rigging plan to fit stays (21, 23, 25 42mm 24, 25 and 26) and lanyards (22) between the foremast and bowsprit. Make sure to attach 24 the blocks to them, as shown on the plan. 113E Cut two 42mm lengths of 2 x 3mm walnut strip and one 15mm length. Glue them to the sides of the grating. Then cut two 44mm 23 lengths of 2 x 2mm ramin strip and one 19mm length. Jib 19 V10. Main royal staysail 14 14 114C Now rig the topmast and topgallant V10 mast shrouds to the masts according to section C of the rigging plan. Pass the topmast shrouds (13, 17 and 19) between the top and topgallant masts and down through the topmast crosstrees. Secure them to the tops with deadeyes (E) and lanyards (14). Tie the topgallant mast shrouds (16, 18 and 20) above the royal hounds, then down through the topmast crosstrees, tying them off to the topmast 20mm below. V9 D 114A To prepare the futtock A shrouds (9), cut thread to the length listed in section B on the rigging plan.
