Apologies were received from: Christopher Kemp (Councillor Cringleford Ward) (CK); Garry Wheatley (Councillor Cringleford Ward) (GW) and Daniel Cox (Norfolk County Councillor) (DC). 1. To consider apologies for absence: Resolved to accept apologies from Lars Tibell (LT) and Diana Bulman (DB) both unavoidable away from Norwich. AG said that DB had informed him that she would be resigning from the Council because of the amount of time she was now spending away from Norwich. Kevin Hanner was co-opted as a member of the Parish Council. PB reminded the Council that this was the last declared meeting before AG resigned his position as Councillor and Chairman in the New Year. RR said she was willing to assume the position on AG’s resignation. 2. To receive declaration of interests in items on the Agenda: No interests were declared. 3. Public Participation. It was resolved to adjourn the meeting for public participation: MR said she was concerned about the track and path through Big Wood which had been blocked to walkers by gates installed by the landowner. They were regularly used for leisure walking (OD indicated there had been contact with the Ramblers Association in this regard) but they were also functional in providing a safe route on foot between Keswick New Hall and Low Road.

  • 05 July 2016
2126 Hingham Town Council MINUTES of the Town Council meeting held on Tuesday 05 July 2016. Present Councillors Mr Eldridge – Chairman Mrs Dore – Vice Chairman Mr Bendle, Mrs Chan, Mr Stickland, Mrs Maltby, and Miss Lys There were 7 members of the public present. 1. Apologies for absence – received from Mrs Riley, Miss Thomas and Mr Shingfield 2. Guest Speaker – Steve Beckett - South Norfolk Council – proposed revisions to the conservation area boundary Mr Beckett was welcomed to the meeting and outlined the draft proposals for re aligning the conservation area in Hingham, which will have the effect of removing some of the modern housing from the area (for example Lonsdale Crescent and Rectory Gardens). It was asked as to whether any of the trees falling within these areas are protected by TPO’s (as, if not, once they are no longer within a conservation area, they would not be subject to the protection currently applied). 3. Public participation session Concerns were raised regarding the overgrown state of the public footpaths between Norwich Road and Seamere Road and Norwich Road and Hardingham Road. It was also mentioned that the “no cycling, no horses” sign on Norwich Road/Lincoln Avenue footpath is unreadable and the yellow directional sign on Seamere Road (approach to Mill Corner) is obscured by vegetation. Vegetation on Ringers Lane/ Norwich Street and by the School House is also overgrown. (The Clerk to report these the relevant authorities). Concerns were also raised regarding flooding to the lower parts of Hingham in particular Seamere Road, where ditches in private ownership are overgrown, preventing water from flowing away.

  • Electoral Arrangements Review Committee
ELECTORAL ARRANGEMENTS REVIEW COMMITTEE Minutes of a meeting of the Electoral Arrangements Review Committee of South Norfolk District Council held at South Norfolk House, Long Stratton on 14 August 2018 at 10:30am. Committee Members Present: Councillors: C Kemp (Chairman), C Easton, K Kiddie and T Lewis Apologies: Councillors: J Fuller and L Hornby Substitute Members: Councillors: M Edney for J Fuller and A Thomas for L Hornby Officers in Attendance: The Electoral Services Manager (J Tovee-Galey) and the Electoral Services Officer (N Tullock). 31. MINUTES The minutes of the Electoral Arrangements Review Committee held on 29 November 2017 were confirmed as a correct record and signed by the Chairman. Regarding the changes made to the boundary of Bixley, Caistor St Edmund and Poringland, Cllr Lewis stated that he was unhappy with the outcome as he felt it would have been more logical for the area around Octagon Farm to have been moved into Framingham Earl rather than Poringland. He advised members that, although he understood that the Committee’s recommendations had been approved by Full Council and formed part of the Order, he regretted that he had not spotted the issue when the Committee had considered its recommendations using the maps provided. Members noted that the Council had recently appointed a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst so future graphics would Electoral Arrangements Review Committee 14 August 2018 be more detailed. The Electoral Services Manager advised that, for future Community Governance Reviews, it might be advantageous for the Committee to consider the District in several smaller parts. 32. • Parish Registers and Transcripts in the Norfolk Record Office
Parish Registers and Transcripts in the Norfolk Record Office This list summarises the Norfolk Record Office’s (NRO’s) holdings of parish (Church of England) registers and of transcripts and other copies of them. Parish Registers The NRO holds registers of baptisms, marriages, burials and banns of marriage for most parishes in the Diocese of Norwich (including Suffolk parishes in and near Lowestoft in the deanery of Lothingland) and part of the Diocese of Ely in south-west Norfolk (parishes in the deanery of Fincham and Feltwell). Some Norfolk parish records remain in the churches, especially more recent registers, which may be still in use. In the extreme west of the county, records for parishes in the deanery of Wisbech Lynn Marshland are deposited in the Wisbech and Fenland Museum, whilst Welney parish records are at the Cambridgeshire Record Office. The covering dates of registers in the following list do not conceal any gaps of more than ten years; for the populous urban parishes (such as Great Yarmouth) smaller gaps are indicated. Whenever microfiche or microfilm copies are available they must be used in place of the original registers, some of which are unfit for production. A few parish registers have been digitally photographed and the images are available on computers in the NRO's searchroom. The digital images were produced as a result of partnership projects with other groups and organizations, so we are not able to supply copies of whole registers (either as hard copies or on CD or in any other digital format), although in most cases we have permission to provide printout copies of individual entries.
