Step Into Stories Returns to Ohio County Public Library
The Children’s Department at the Ohio County Pub- lic Library in Wheeling has announced the return of its popular “Step Into Stories” series. These high quality, free programs are designed to bring litera- ture to life by drawing children into the world of lit- erature through exposure to puppets, storytellers, authors, musicians and other artists. The programs cover a variety of topics and feature many of the best presenters in the region.
The fall 2014 version of the series begins on Saturday, October 18 with a Children’s concert featuring singer-songwriter, Chip Richter, who serves up stories, songs, and smiles, “Family Style.” His fam- ily concerts feature fun, smart, high-energy music with a positive message that connects with both children and adults.
The series continues on Saturday November 15 with a puppet ver- sion of the Legend of Sleepy Hollow featuring Stevens Puppets. In this silly and non-scary version of Washington Irving’s classic work of literature, children of all ages may follow the lanky schoolmaster, Ichabod Crane, as he sings, dances, and falls in love.
On Saturday, December 20, “Step Into Stories” will wel- come cartoonist J.D. Williamson, known for dazzling audi- ences with his super fast drawings and audience participa- tion.
“Step Into Stories” programs are offered at 11 am and 2 pm in order to provide families with more opportunities to attend. Please check the library’s web site at www.ohiocountylibrary.org or call the library at 304-232-0244 for more informa- tion.
