BBC Music Introducing makes a welcome return to Latitude, showcasing the biggest unsigned, discovered, and under the radar music across the UK. In 2018, almost 60% of the entire line up had come from the ground-breaking scheme that has seen Two Door Cinema Club, Catfish and The Bottlemen, Years & Years, Wolf Alice, The 1975, work their way up to headliner status, and this year is no different as we are currently on over 50% of the line up coming from BBC Music Introducing including Friday Night headliner George Ezra. The BBC Music Introducing Stage gets even bigger as BBC Radio 2’s Dermot O’Leary will be broadcasting LIVE on the Saturday morning with live music, and special guests, and to be part of the audience, listen in to Dermot’s show on Saturday 6th July from 8am to find out more. Dermot O’Leary says: “I’ve been DJing in the woods at Latitude, as well as broadcasting from the festival, for many years and it’s always been a favourite of mine. I love the fact that there’s something for everyone – from literature to comedy to sheep- and of course some fantastic live music. I can’t wait to bring my Radio 2 Saturday Breakfast Show to the BBC Music Introducing stage this year.” Winner of Best Family Festival last year, Latitude has a huge array of Family activities available for children and parents alike across three separate areas. Nestled between the lake and the forest, The Kids Area is a hive of activity with everything from traditional woodland crafts to wild science experiments. Join authors Laura Trinder, and Christopher Lloyd, visit OKIDO Artist’s Studio to work with designers and illustrators behind CBeebies popular animation series, and explore the Wild Science Tent for Guardian Of The Gut, Splat Anatomy! and Natures Dazzling Diversity. New theatre shows and live performances include a show inspired by a Suffolk myth called Life’s A Beach, Makaika for classical music with a twist and a slapstick family Panto! In The Enchanted Garden our new Craft Tent includes Patches ever-growing patchwork blanket and some dazzling Sand-art. The over 12’s will see a piece of the action, with The Inbetweeners Area offering music, media, fashion and technology workshops. This year teens can create stage quality make up looks with our Special Effect Make Up Tutorial, the Unreality Tent offers 8-bit retro games and some AR surprises, Future Radio will host their new Radio Caravan with interactive workshops and the chance to interview some bands, or head to The Digital Kitchen to ask beauty and lifestyle vlogger Helen Anderson about her journey to almost 600k subscribers on YouTube. The debut of Street Feast in 2018 saw the food offerings at Latitude step it up a notch by offering over 80 delicious choices, and we are pleased to announce they’re back for another year. Attendees can eat delicious and well-sourced food from dozens of different countries and cuisines – from pillowy soft Chinese bao buns to fiery Caribbean jerk chicken, and fresh Middle Eastern mezze boxes to mighty Mexican jackfruit tacos. With multiple of last year’s traders returning, 2019 will see some modern classics of the food stall scene with 60 traders feeding festivalgoers across the festival; Louisiana inspired Surf n’ Turf po’ boys with lip-smacking habanero chilli jam from Slingin’ Po Boys, the ultimate fondue from Alpine artisans the Raclette Brothers, fiery Cajun chicken from Voodoo Chicken and inspired vegan cuisine from Vegetaria. All-time favourites making a return appearance include wood fired pizza perfectionists Fundi, the original Mac N Cheese dealers Anna Maes and award-winning Paella stars Paellaria. Theatre of Food, a fully immersive stage for any foodie – or just your average keen eater – returns with cooking sessions, inspiring food demos and, of course, the chance to sample the goods yourself. Across the weekend festival goers can witness Georgina Hayden, renowned cook, and food writer, the return of award winning author Felicity Cloake, and cult restaurant Persepolis owner Sally Butcher. Also added are Rising Star Of Food 2019 Rachel Ama, cookbook author Charlotte Pike, Norwich Legend Richard Bainbridge, TED X Speaker Kittie Kipper, and more, all to take place on the beautifully designed kitchen from Anglia Factors. The Hothouse returns to Latitude for its second year - a spectacular restaurant housed inside an adapted polytunnel, decorated as a French brocante, that offers table service. It’s menu is sourced from six independent food producers, that include Boxfood Caribbean, Persian Chicken, Guerrilla Kitchen, Seacow, Yellow Turban Thali, and The Taco Kitchen. To book a table (maximum 10 people), please email [email protected] with your mobile number, and which day and approximate time you would like.
