The land in the village and around it is full of piety. The rock stone in pre-Christian times served as a kind of talisman to protect people from evil. With the adoption of Christianity, here was located the temple-fortress. Opposite the rock on a hill was located a Dominican monastery which made. Pidkamin known. Legend says that it once sheltered 12 monks fleeing Kyiv in 1234 when it was ravaged by Mongols. They built a chapel and set up a cross but did not survive long. The Mongol invasion reached their village, the shrine was destroyed and the monks were killed. Pidkamin and the monastery of the Dominican Order are first mentioned in records from the 15th century. A century later the town was attacked once again and the monastery was demolished. It was restored to its present form in the 17-18th centuries and preserved till now in half ruined state. The Dominican Monastery today belongs to the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. At present there are 2 monks and one priest living in the monastery, who are working in order to renovate this holly place. The state does not allocate any funds for restoration while the walls continue to crumble, so NGOs and private companies are helping the monks. NGOs organize volunteer camps where young people from different countries come to help the monks restore the church. Private companies provide technical assistance. Volunteers are welcome to make their input in historical and cultural heritage protection. The work might include renovation and readjustment of cultural and historical objects on the territory of the monastery, interior and exterior manual works, cleaning up historic well (removing soil and historic layers ), other maintenance works on the territory and inside, mapping, photofixation, measurements. COMPLEMENTARY ACTIVITIES - LEISURE ACTIVITIES: Pidkamin is an urban-type village in Brody district, Lviv region. 70 miles from European Union border (Poland), 62 miles from Lviv.Leisure activities will include sightseeing and excursions in the town and area around (castles, old monasteries, trip to the lake), international evening and entertaining activities within group. Excursion in Lviv is also planned. Lviv is the city of Lions, which centre is recognized as UNESCO heritage and is under it protection, cultural capital of Ukraine, number one of Worth seeing cities in Ukraine according to world travel guides. DESCRIPTION OF WORKCAMP: Project partner: Medzhyb1110;zh State Historical-Cultural Reserve. About the project: This will be the second year of the camp. We decided to continue it in 2017 because of great success and very positive feedback from international volunteers. The camp will be located in a village Medzhibozh, Khmelnytskyi region, in the western part of Ukraine. The first mention about the village dates back in 1146. Medzhybizh Fortress i a monument of fortification architecture of the XVI century, made in the Renaissance style. The significant landmark was built on a cape formed by the rivers Southern Bug and Buzhok. In 2001 the castle has received the status of the State Historical and Cultural Reserve. Since 2004 the castle is the center of Ukrainian historical festival Ancient Medzhybizh which annually takes place at the end of August. During the festival days in the castle live knights, archers, princesses and mythical heroes. There is a museum in the territory of the castle. The new exposition of Medzhyb1110;zh museum includes ethnography, history and icon painting, Memorial Museum of victims of Holodomor 1932-1933 (in Podilia region) and exhibition halls. Today Medzhyb1110;zh is interesting not only by its ancient castle, which attracts the tourists from the whole world. Volunteers will be engaged in archaeological and restoration work on the territory of fortress and possibly in a castle, including but not limited to. Medzhybizh work Medzhybizh Castle, doing different work: the archaeological works on fortification walls, archaeological digging, possible some renovation works. Motivation letter. DESCRIPTION OF WORKCAMP: This will be a summer language children camp (English). The camp for children is sponsored by Volodymyrets District Collegium (primary and secondary school). It will take place on Collegium s recreation camp site among pine forests on the shore of beautiful and clean water lake, equipped with wooden bungalows and all the facilities. The aim of the camp is to provide educational and healthy recreation opportunities to children. Among the other ideas of the camp are integration of different social groups, promotion of mutual understanding and tolerance, development of interpersonal communication, socialization and informal education of children. Volunteers are welcome to join this camp and bring their international spirit to encourage children to learn about the other cultures, to get children motivated to learn English (because having the possibility to use it with for international communication the lessons of English at school is a sort of dead subject without an interest to learn it). Volunteers will have a chance to share their enthusiasm, knowledge, experience with children, who in their turn will help volunteers to discover multicolour Ukraine. Volunteers will be divided between different children age groups (12-15 years old) and will assist the tutors in different educational and leisure activities: workshops, competitions, sports, walks, parties, campfire, dancing, swimming in the lake, boating etc. Informal teaching will run in form of games, songs, performances, artscrafts.     Appendices I. Archival Sources Archival research for this monograph was conducted in Lviv, the former capital of Galicia, in 1983. To orient myself in the rich archival holdings of this city, I benefitted from the unpublished manuscript of Patricia K. Grimsted's forthcoming guide to Soviet Ukrainian archives and manuscript repositories' as well as from a number of published works.' Plans to use archives in Ternopil and Ivano-Frankivsk were frustrated, as was the plan to use the manuscript collection of the Institute of Literature of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR (in Kiev). Work in the Austrian archives in 1982 did not uncover sources of direct relevance to the subject of this monograph, but the Viennese archives remain an important and little-explored repository of historical documentation on Galician history. The richest collection of unpublished sources on the history of Galicia during the Austrian period is located in the Central State Historical Archives of the Ukrainian SSR in Lviv (U Tsentrainyi derzhavnyi istorychnyi arkhiv URSR u rn. Lvovi; abbre- viated as TsDIAL). The Central Archives have inherited the papers of various Galician government institutions and major civic organizations. Kľúčové slová: skalné zvyšky, západná Ukrajina, Gologoro-Kremenecké pohorie, Pidkamin, svätyna, petroglyfy Abstract: For the territory of Western Ukraine, there is a characteristic presence of erosive sandstone remains of the Neogene period by the Cenozoic. Most of them used by people in some way. One of the most prominent objects is Pid- kamin (Lviv Region). The ceramic material confirms that the monument functioned from the Bronze Age until modern times. It is believed that the rock was used as a shrine. This statement was made based on the rock structures, analogies of which are in Bulgaria. The dynamics of the share of the Jewish population in urban settlements of the Lviv Oblast is studied, and it is found that it sharply decreased after the events of the World War II, primarily as a result of the Holocaust. A map of the share of the Jewish population in the urban settlements of the Oblast in 1939 is developed.

The idea to organize a division of volunteers from Galicia was proposed by the German Governor of District GaliciaDr. He suggested creation of a Waffen-SS division composed of Galician volunteers and designed for regular combat on the Eastern Front. Thus the Ukrainian division along with the Bosnian one became notable exceptions. LANG" FOREWORD The present book is a translation of the pamphlet published in Ukrainian in the clandestine press organ of the underground Ukrainian Supreme Liberation Council (UHVR) in Ukraine, under Communist Russian rule, in 1946.* The Ukrainian Supreme Liberation Council was the body directing the struggle of the Ukrainian nation for independence. The brunt of the fight fell upon the shoulders of the Organization of the Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) and the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA). Constantly hunted by the hated Soviet Russian security police and troops, and themselves carrying on the fight against the representatives of the inhuman terror regime, the authors of this pamphlet had to remain unknown to the general public. To live ahvays with a finger on the trigger is not the same as to live in the quiet cloisters of a university, and the writing done under such circumstances must of necessity be imperfect. Nevertheless, the pamphlet is a rich source of factual material about the cruel methods used by the occupying power in suppressing the struggle of the Ukrainian people for freedom and national independence between 1944 and 1946, in the early years of the renewed occupation of Ukraine by Bolshevist Russian imperialists. The vast scale of the operations undertaken by the Kremlin masters to crush the Ukrainian resistance, illustrated by hundreds of incontrovertible local instances, proves also the importance that was attached by Moscow to this struggle, and what a danger it represented and still represents to the Russian Communist empire.

    May 2021 REGULAR PROJECTS Cross-border Cooperation Programme POLAND–BELARUS–UKRAINE 2014–2020 Foreword State border is usually perceived as the barrier for relations and development. Indeed, in many aspects, it poses a great challenge to the borderland communities and organizations in their everyday life. The challenge is even greater when that border is simultaneously separating different economic areas like it is in case of Poland, the European Union member state neighbouring Belarus and Ukraine – non EU countries. Luckily, life abhors a vacuum and people have a natural tendency to interact and cooperate irrespectively of their origins and they are eager to overcome any obstacles. The cross-border cooperation is the very reflection of these two truths. It brings together the communities on both sides of the states’ border to com- monly address matters important to them. The Cross-border Cooperation Programme Poland-Belarus-Ukraine 2014-2020 is the result of the three countries’ will to build mutual relations and achieve common goals in the borderland. Close to the people’s needs, their problems and expectations. This Programme is the reflection of regions’ and local communes’ will to create cooperation and relations that shall change the border into a platform for mutual develop- ment. With such an attitude we can focus more on the regional strengths and joint opportunities as well as manage the threats together. In this publication, we present you the overview of Polish, Belarusian and Ukrainian cross-border projects selected for financing within the Programme. The results of these common endeavours will be seen in the upcoming years, changing the quality of inhabitants’ life for better.
