Garden State Preservation Trust Fiscal Year 2011 DRAFT Annual Report This is the Annual Report of the Garden State Preservation Trust for the Fiscal Year 2011 from July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2011. It has always been goal and mission of the Garden State Preservation Trust to place preservation first. This report reflects that priority. The most common suggestion concerning prior annual reports was to give more prominent placement to statistics about land preservation. This report is structured to place the preservation data first and to provide it in unprecedented detail. Information and financial data concerning GSPT financing, recent appropriations and agency operations are contained in the chapters which follow the acreage tables. This is to be construed as the full annual report of the Garden State Preservation Trust for the 2011 Fiscal Year in compliance with P.L. 1999 C.152 section 8C-15. It is also intended to be a comprehensive summary of required financial reporting from FY2000 through FY2011. This document updates the financial and statistical tables contained in prior annual reports. -

There were families in Perth Amboy that were tragically affected and suffered a great loss of their loved ones. This year we dedicate two 9-11 Survivor Trees donated by the 9/11 Memorial & Museum to our lost loved ones for a continuing remembrance,” said Mayor Wilda Diaz. ABOUT THE 9-11 SURVIVOR TREE: A Callery pear tree became known as the "Survivor Tree" after enduring the September 11, 2001 terror attacks at the World Trade Center. In October 2001, the tree was discovered at Ground Zero severely damaged, with snapped roots and burned and broken branches. The tree was removed from the rubble and placed in the care of the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation. -

Appendix B Capital Plan Project Sheets Regional Transit Projects Project Sheet | Portal Bridge Replacement (Portal North) Description The existing Portal Bridge is a ±960-foot long structure which carries the Existing: Portal Bridge Northeast Corridor (NEC) over the Hackensack River between Newark Penn Station and Secaucus Junction. The existing movable, swing span bridge was constructed in 1910, is 110-years old, and has exceeded its originally intended service life. Due to its age and frequency of use, the movable bridge is costly and difficult to maintain and experiences frequent breakdowns. The two-track bridge creates a bottleneck between the four-track territories to the east and west and requires train speed reductions of 30% which contributes to a decrease in rail service reliability. Given its low vertical clearance to the river, frequent bridge openings are required to accommodate marine traffic. Also, mechanical component malfunctions often cause the bridge to be open for extended periods of time, resulting in frequent, lengthy delays of rail service on the NEC. Additionally, the existing bridge does not have enough capacity to accommodate anticipated future demand. If funded, this project would replace the existing bridge with a higher, more reliable, double track fixed bridge on a new alignment to the north of the existing bridge. The increased vertical profile would eliminate interruptions to rail service due to required bridge openings. The new north bridge would also eliminate speed restrictions, thereby improving Proposed: New Bridge rail operation and capacity across the span. A second, two-track southern bridge, Portal South, is contemplated separately as part of the overall Gateway Program, which when complete would substantially increase operational capacity along this critical length of the NEC. -

Executive Summary Justification of Perth Amboy Site for a New Jersey Transportation Heritage Park Introduction “Few states can equal New Jersey’s rich transportation heritage, but, up to now, we have lacked the means to tell the story. New Jerseyians have had to go to neighboring states to learn about New Jersey’s transportation and its role in creating the New Jersey we enjoy today.” A Master Plan for the New Jersey Transportation Heritage Center, May 2000 Executive Summary, p.3. The New Jersey Transportation Heritage Park “will showcase the extensive history oF surFace transportation in New Jersey and its relationship to the development oF the state." Ibid. It will enable New Jerseyans to “enjoy their transportation heritage without having to travel outside the state as is now the case.” Ibid. Items oF New Jersey heritage are displayed and / or operate in many other states and cities, notably CaliFornia, Connecticut, Maine, Ohio, Pennsylvania, St. Louis, MO, Washington, DC as well as in many places around the globe. Past Efforts at Establishing a New Jersey Transportation Museum The process started in 1987 with the New Jersey Railroad and Transportation Museum Study Commission. That Commission concluded that a NJ museum experience was long overdue. Subsequently, in 1993, the Study Commission considered proposals For host sites For the Heritage Center. In 1999 the Commission successFully received approval and funding from the State Legislature for development of a Master Plan For a site in Phillipsburg. Next, NJ TRANSIT authorized the preparation oF a Master Plan For that site by a team led by Wallace Roberts Todd. -

The stripes and lettering are faded. The GG1 is C6. 2004 Lionel postwar 2560 crane car with cream cab, red roof and black boom, C6. 2005 Lionel postwar Five-Star Frontier Special outfit no. 2528WS including; 1872 General steam loco, 1872T W.& A.R.R. tender, 1877 horse car with six horses, 1876 baggage car and a 1875W illuminated passenger car with whistle. The ornamental whistle on the engine is broken and the piping detail on the hand rails is broken. Engine is C6. Rest of set is C7. 2006 Lionel postwar freight cars including; X2454 orange Pennsylvania boxcar with original cardboard insert, X2758 Tuscan Pennsylvania boxcar and a 2457 red Pennsylvania caboose. The X2454 is C5. The other two cars are C7. The 2478 is in a reproduction box. The other two cars are in OBs. The OBs show some wear. 2007 Lionel postwar 726RR Berkshire steam loco and a 2046W tender, circa 1952, C7. The tender is in a worn OB. 2008 Lionel postwar X6454 Tuscan Pennsylvania boxcar and a 6420 gray searchlight wrecking car with original cardboard insert both in OBs. -

June 17, 2021 The New Jersey Law Revision Commission is required to “[c]onduct a continuous examination of the general and permanent statutory law of this State and the judicial decisions construing it” and to propose to the Legislature revisions to the statutes to “remedy defects, reconcile conflicting provisions, clarify confusing language and eliminate redundant provisions.” N.J.S. 1:12A-8. This Report is distributed to advise interested persons of the Commission's tentative recommendations and to notify them of the opportunity to submit comments. Comments should be received by the Commission no later than August 16, 2021. The Commission will consider these comments before making its final recommendations to the Legislature. For those researchers wanting to do a deeper dive into the history of a particular event or series of events, copious resources are given for most of the fantrips, excursions, special moves, etc. in this compilation. You may find it much easier to search for the RR, event, city, etc. you are interested in than to read the entire document. We also think it will provide interesting, educational, and sometimes entertaining reading. Perhaps it will give ideas to future fantrip or excursion leaders for trips which may still be possible. In any such work like this there is always the question of what to include or exclude or where to draw the line. Our first thought was to limit this work to railfan excursions, but that soon got broadened to include rail specials for the general public and officials, special moves, trolley trips, bus outings, waterway and canal journeys, etc. The focus has been on such trips which operated within NJ; from NJ; into NJ from other states; or, passed through NJ. We have excluded regularly scheduled tourist type rides, automobile journeys, air trips, amusement park rides, etc. NOTE: Since many of the following items were taken from promotional literature we can not guarantee that each and every trip was actually operated. Early on the railways explored and promoted special journeys for the public as a way to improve their bottom line. -
