Kalamazoo College is committed to the concept of equal rights, equal opportunities, and equal protection of the law. It administers all programs-admissions, financial aid, employment, instruction, and services-without regard to race, creed, national origin, age handicaps, or sex, and implements this nondiscriminatory policy under a formal affirmative action program.

napshots can tell you some thing of the occasions, the accomplishments, the history of S the year that has passed. They tell less well the tone, the momentum, and the unfinished business which forms the agenda for a succeeding year. An annual report should, however, try to do all of this. This report should be read as a whole, for out of the sections written by the president and the vice-presidents the reader will get a composite view that is greater than the mere sum of the parts. That is our hope for the administration of Kalamazoo College as well-that the work of each will add to and be supple mented by the work of others. In this regard the president's responsibility is to provide general oversight of the admin istration of the College and its academic and student programs; to articulate the shared mission of the College; to suggest ways in which that mission and the programs which implement it might be changed, refocused, or reaffirmed; and, finally, to be the principal spokes man of the College to the larger society of which it is a part and which it serves. How did the College fare in 1978-79 in the light of these considerations? George N. Rainsford is president of Kalamazoo College.

he L. Lee Stryker Center for Management Studies and Educational Services had its T origin at Kalamazoo College more than 20 years ago as an affiliate of the Industrial Relations Center of the University of Chicago. Achieving an independent status shortly thereafter, the Center served the Kalamazoo area through its programs of management training for local businesses. The Center was renamed in 1977 for L. Lee Stryker, a prominent Kalamazoo business and civic leader who died in 1976 in an airplane accident. Achievements of the past year In October, 1978, the Stryker Center moved into its new quarters at 1327 Academy Street, beginning a new phase of its existence. Through the continuing generosity of the Stryker family, the Stryker Corporation, and the many friends of Lee Stryker and the College, this facility is now in full operation. A slight reorganization of the Center staff occurred in the spring of 1979. At that time, the decision was made to separate the activities of the Non-tradi tional Students Program and the New Frontiers Program from the regular activities of the Stryker Center and make them self-sufficient operations.
