He is the creative director of BLACK, a multi-disciplinary creative agency and founding partner of PHUNK, a contemporary art collective. Notable projects include the brand concept and identity of SG50, to celebrate Singapore's golden jubilee and CREATIVE©ITIES, an exhibition that map the creativity of Asia-Pacific. As a visual artist, his works are based around his personal fascination with "finding meaning" thru signs and symbols. Artworks from his solo and collective artistic endeavours are featured in numerous collections and exhibitions, including Singapore Art Museum, MOCA Taipei, Venice Biennale and the Fukuoka Asian Art Museum. THE FANTASTICAL WORLD OF ECO.ME The Fantastical World of eco.me 3 – 5 March | 9 – 12 March 6pm – 10.30pm Free admission The Promontory @ Marina Bay Inspired by themes of light and nature, The Fantastical World of eco.me will see The Promontory @ Marina Bay transformed into an enchanting playscape illuminated by gigantic nature-themed light installations and enlivened by fun-filled hands-on activities. Taking off from lessons we can learn from marine and flora life, The Fantastical World of eco.me will present two weekends of themed activities from immersive theatre performances, ‘live’ music, workshops, arts and craft fair, urban farming showcases and educational talks that celebrate ecological and social sustainability. Through fun and play, eco.me aims to evoke a sense of wonder in all of us to better appreciate the environment, to embrace lifelong learning and to embark on our own personal sustainability journey. Organisation Description Name OCBC Urban Get up close with an aerobic and odourless way of composting at the Garden OCBC Urban Garden. In a large see-through tank filled with food waste, the public can learn first-hand about food waste management and urban gardening. This showcase is supported by OCBC Bank and managed by OCBC volunteers, in collaboration with students and teachers of Yu Neng Primary School. Members of the public are able to collect free compost for their personal use. Seeds and pots are available for sale at eco∙me. Singapore A group of students from Singapore Polytechnic will be displaying their Polytechnic rotating "urban farming kit" that resembles a Ferris wheel and allows more plants to be grown in a given space. The system is devised by a team of four aeronautical engineering students and comes with an automatic irrigation system. UGrow Gardens Learn about different composting systems – the Bokashi, the Black Soldier Fly, the Earthworm from green farming experts such as James Lam, Founder of UGrowGardens. There will also be a vertical vegetable growing system showcase to demonstrate how it is possible to cultivate green in small spaces that is hassle-free and budget-friendly. Greenology A showcase on new technologies in urban sustainability and on the role of respect in developing new urban ecologies –termed ‘Bio-filial’ implying one’s filial duty to the environment. The blanket symbolises the fabric of society and the over-dependence on plastic in our lives. The intent of the performance is to create an awareness of the detrimental impact of plastics on the environment and to start a conversation about the use of bio-degradable or otherwise sustainable bags.
