  • The Twenty Greatest Music Concerts I've Ever Seen
THE TWENTY GREATEST MUSIC CONCERTS I'VE EVER SEEN Whew, I'm done. Let me remind everyone how this worked. I would go through my Ipod in that weird Ipod alphabetical order and when I would come upon an artist that I have seen live, I would replay that concert in my head. (BTW, since this segment started I no longer even have an ipod. All my music is on my laptop and phone now.) The number you see at the end of the concert description is the number of times I have seen that artist live. If it was multiple times, I would do my best to describe the one concert that I considered to be their best. If no number appears, it means I only saw that artist once. Mind you, I have seen many artists live that I do not have a song by on my Ipod. That artist is not represented here. So although the final number of concerts I have seen came to 828 concerts (wow, 828!), the number is actually higher. And there are "bar" bands and artists (like LeCompt and Sam Butera, for example) where I have seen them perform hundreds of sets, but I counted those as "one," although I have seen Lecompt in "concert" also. Any show you see with the four stars (****) means they came damn close to being one of the Top Twenty, but they fell just short. So here's the Twenty. Enjoy and thanks so much for all of your input. And don't sue me if I have a date wrong here and there.

  • Nashville Radio
NASHVILLE RADIO Tom Andes For Jon Langford The human body only needed six hours of sleep, anyway, I told the temp, Bub, who was a Yankee—I knew from the accent—and who looked like he’d been to college. He could’ve been a fruit or one of those politically correct liberal assholes you saw on the news media. I adjusted my Everlast belt, picked up another flat of R.W. Knudsen organic pineapple juice in sixteen-ounce glass bottles from the forklift—each one weighed 55 pounds, but I could lift two at a time: no problem—and hauled it to the truck. I was feeling good, blood pumping in my biceps, getting warmed up. Bub struggled under just one of those flats. To look at me, you wouldn’t have thought I was inclined to philosophy, or for that matter, much of a word slinger, but my daddy sang his own country 124 NASHVILLE RADIO 125 songs, and while I might not’ve followed in his footsteps, I knew that magic was in me somewhere. Maybe you’d heard of my daddy, who got kicked off the Grand Ole Opry after a frolic with one of the hatcheck girls, who also happened to be a famous record producer’s daughter. Back in the day, he had a couple radio hits, including the classic “Living on Back Streets, Loving on Main,” but like ice cream socials, family farms, and the sacred bond of matri- mony between a man and a woman, he was forgotten now. Bub yawned while I said all that.

Interview with Dallas Read The Town of Chevy Chase History Project Interviewed by Stephanie Brown on January 25, 2004 DR: Kathleen Williams has been my next-door neighbor for fifty years now. [Laughs] SB: Isn’t that wonderful? DR: And she’s so bright, you know. I’m not bad, [laughing] except I have no memory, but never mind. I put these notes all over the house. SB: Your post-it notes. DR: Oh yes. Then the next morning I tear them all off, then reorganize my day because I’ve gotten to that age where my memory for the past is very good, but my memory from three weeks ago is fuzzy. So I write everything down, you know. Then I throw them all out. SB: Well, there you go. It works. DR: Yeah, it works. But anyway--So, when we came here the pool was already a reality. SB: The pool in the backyard that you share. DR: The pool in the backyard was already a reality. It had been dug after prohibition came in. Or before. At any rate, the two men who lived next door decided to celebrate by having a big beer party for all their friends, you know, on the back slope. So they had their beer party. I wasn’t here at that time. That was before my time. But they had their party, and it was a wonderful success. And everybody at the party got very enthusiastic, and they among them said, “You know, this place would be perfect if you had a pool.

  • Rock Album Discography Last Up-Date: September 27Th, 2021
Rock Album Discography Last up-date: September 27th, 2021 Rock Album Discography “Music was my first love, and it will be my last” was the first line of the virteous song “Music” on the album “Rebel”, which was produced by Alan Parson, sung by John Miles, and released I n 1976. From my point of view, there is no other citation, which more properly expresses the emotional impact of music to human beings. People come and go, but music remains forever, since acoustic waves are not bound to matter like monuments, paintings, or sculptures. In contrast, music as sound in general is transmitted by matter vibrations and can be reproduced independent of space and time. In this way, music is able to connect humans from the earliest high cultures to people of our present societies all over the world. Music is indeed a universal language and likely not restricted to our planetary society. The importance of music to the human society is also underlined by the Voyager mission: Both Voyager spacecrafts, which were launched at August 20th and September 05th, 1977, are bound for the stars, now, after their visits to the outer planets of our solar system (mission status: https://voyager.jpl.nasa.gov/mission/status/). They carry a gold- plated copper phonograph record, which comprises 90 minutes of music selected from all cultures next to sounds, spoken messages, and images from our planet Earth. There is rather little hope that any extraterrestrial form of life will ever come along the Voyager spacecrafts. But if this is yet going to happen they are likely able to understand the sound of music from these records at least.
