EUR 10.6 billion needed for environmental projects BELGRADE - Serbia will need around EUR 10.6 billion by 2030 for financing environmental protection projects and harmonizing domestic regulations in that field with the EU Acquis, it was said during a meeting at the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS) on Thursday. Advisor to the PKS president Dusanka Samardzic said at a presentation of financing prospects for such projects that the field of environmental protection is one of the most complex part of the EU Acquis, adding that it is very important that the Serbian economy gets to know models for financing the projects, including the IPA funds. Leitl: Serbia should determine next economic steps BELGRADE - In the EU integration process, it is very important for Serbia to determine the next economic steps besides the political ones, President of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKO) Christoph Leitl stated after a meeting in the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS). Leitl noted that Serbia will have EUR 200 million at its disposal from the EU pre-accession funds, and the greatest amount will be allocated for the development of the economy. Major overhaul of TENT Block 3 to start in 2014 OBRENOVAC - Block A3 of the Nikola Tesla A thermoelectric power plant (TENT A) in Obrenovac will undergo a major overhaul this year, with an invitation to tender to build the desulphurisation system at the plant to be issued in ten days, Serbia's Minister of Energy Zorana Mihajlovic announced on Tuesday. Serbia ranked 95th in economic freedom BELGRADE - Serbia is ranked 95th according to the Index of Economic Freedom, which puts it in the Mostly Unfree group of countries. The annual list of the Heritage Foundation and The Wall Street Journal shows that Serbia's score went up by 0.8 points compared to last year, reaching 59.4 points, but that it remained in the group of countries described as mostly unfree, which are ranked 91st to 151st. Serbia is ranked 37th out of 43 European countries and its overall score is below the world and regional averages. NBS: Direct foreign investments in 2014 at EUR 1 billion The influx of direct foreign investments in Serbia by the end of November this year was EUR 630 million and is expected to reach about EUR 700 million by the end of the year, officials of the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) said on Friday. A moderate growth of foreign investments is expected in 2014, so they should be at around EUR 1 billion. NBS Governor Jorgovanka Tabakovic told a news conference the NBS had expected EUR 1 billion in foreign investments in 2013 too, because a bank from the United Arab Emirates should have opened a branch in Serbia. Announced boycott of debate on amendments to Labour Law he United Trade Unions of Serbia Sloga and the Trade Union of the Serbian police announced that they will not take part in the debate on the bill of amendments to the Labour Law due to begin in Novi Sad on Friday. The two trade unions thus joined the boycott announced by the Confederation of Autonomous Trade Unions of Serbia (SSSS) and United Trade Unions Independence (UGSN). The Sloga Trade Union noted that it adopted the decision on boycott because its representatives were not involved in the drafting of the bill of amendments to the Labour Law. • Preference Based Portfolio for Private Investors: Discrete Choice Analysis Approach
mathematics Article Preference Based Portfolio for Private Investors: Discrete Choice Analysis Approach Marija Kuzmanovic 1,* , Dragana Makajic-Nikolic 1 and Nebojsa Nikolic 2 1 Department of Operations Research and Statistics, Faculty of Organizational Sciences, University of Belgrade, 11000 Belgrade, Serbia; [email protected] 2 Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Organizational Sciences, University of Belgrade, 11000 Belgrade, Serbia; [email protected] * Correspondence: [email protected] Received: 29 November 2019; Accepted: 16 December 2019; Published: 24 December 2019 Abstract: Behavioral finance literature shows that in addition to Markowitz’s rate of return and risk, private investors consider various other stock features. This paper discusses the problem of determining investors’ preferences for portfolio selection criteria, as well as the problem of optimal portfolio determination from the investors’ point of view. The study primarily focuses on private investors who are interested in one-time investments rather than stock trading. We use a discrete choice analysis and hierarchical Bayes method to measure individual investors’ preferences, and a logit model to determine individual shares of preferences. We treat the share of preferences as the share of certain stocks in an optimal portfolio. The proposed methodology is illustrated by the example of companies whose stocks are traded on the Belgrade Stock Exchange. We measure respondents’ preferences for companies, preferences for return rates, riskiness of stocks, and dividend rates. The results of comparing the performance of the resulting portfolio with the efficient frontier obtained using Markowitz’s portfolio theory indicate its high efficiency, thus validating the proposed approach.
