Here, the largest alpine lake in North America collides with the Biggest Little City in the World—a beautiful contradiction of high adrenaline activities, a burgeoning art scene and remote solitude. Talk about a complete vacation menu: world-class scenery, white sand beaches, lush golf courses, huge ski resorts, 24-hour gaming and entertainment, superlative dining and one-of-a-kind events you won't find anywhere else! The pages that follow contain insights from a few of the world’s most active travel bloggers— magic spots and experiences enjoyed by arts mavens, adventure seekers, “love birds,” shopaholics, six women on the loose and others. What they’ve all discovered in Reno is a city in renaissance. A robust mix of heavy hitter companies have set up shop in this tech-savvy community, fostering the creation of new restaurants, shops, nightlife and art that takes to the streets with murals and sculptures. Pristine mountain locations like Mount Rose and Tahoe Meadows are only a 20-30-minute drive outside Reno. Lake Tahoe is an all-season sweet spot, a playhouse of both summer and winter sports and leisure. This is a place full of epic vacation choices, but if you’re only here for a short time, here are a few experiences not to miss: try your luck gambling in downtown Reno, or test your strength on the world’s tallest outdoor climbing wall. Take a selfie by the iconic Reno Arch, or pick from a hundred dining choices before cruising on the Reno Brew Bike. Maybe you’re here for one of the many spectacular events that draw visitors throughout the year, like the Great Reno Balloon Race. Whatever the season of your visit, don’t miss experiencing Lake Tahoe, her beauty is both natural and unsurpassed. Tahoe is a mecca for the outdoor enthusiast, and the lake’s pristine waters are what dreams are made of. Just ask Mark Twain. His writings also have a lot to say about Virginia City, a well-preserved mining city of the 1850s where Twain started his career. It’s now a vacation bonanza where you can belly up to the bar at an authentic saloon or ride a historic steam train. Wherever you travel around spectacular Reno Tahoe, expect the unexpected! • Fiscal and Capacity Requirements
CONSULTANT SERVICES FOR THE GAMING REGULATORY OVERSIGHT AUTHORITY Area 2: Fiscal and Capacity Requirements October 21, 2013 0 Table of Contents 1 Approach By direction of NH RSA 284-A, the New Hampshire Gaming Regulatory Oversight Authority has directed WhiteSand to prepare a report identifying the strengths and weaknesses of the 2013 NH legislative proposals as compared to the best and most relevant components of the regulatory provisions in the other comparator states. This part of the report addresses fiscal and capacity requirements: WhiteSand has approached this particular task using a formal methodology to determine market demand. We reviewed the specific demographics and other attributes of the gaming jurisdiction to be evaluated. This included, but was not limited to, population, income levels, age distribution, nearby competition and gaming tax rates. We evaluated these factors within ranges of 30, 60 and 90 miles of the proposed gaming facility general location. In order to provide a consistent measurement of demographics within a specific region we use distance radii from the region. Using distance rather than driving time eliminates fluctuations due to drive times, day of week, unpredictable events (e.g., accidents, weather, etc.) and other factors. Distance radii are translatable to drive times in most scenarios and provide more consistent results due to the reduction of unpredictability. Using this information, we then identifed a “Competitive Set” for the proposed gaming facility - other gaming properties to be compared based on similar demographics and characteristics. While the properties identified in the competitive set usually do not provide an exact match, they present enough similarities to evaluate market demand and estimate key financial statistics.
