MOSCOW TRANSPORT FACT SHEET APRIL 10, 2020 Transport against the virus What does Moscow transport do against coronavirus? General ● 100 thousand employees of the Moscow Transport were instructed following the decisions of the Mayor, the Government of Moscow, as well as the Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-Being; ● The Presidential Decree introduced a non-working week from March 30 to April 3, 2020 (extended to April 30) in order to reduce the spread of coronavirus, but Moscow transport will continue its operation; ● More than 110 000 posters informing on the prevention of coronavirus are placed on the entire transport infrastructure of Moscow; ● The Moscow Transport Service Center employees measure the temperature daily, and they are provided with disinfectants and latex gloves; ● Sanitizers are available for all Moscow Transport Service Centers’ visitors; the halls are equipped with the air disinfectors – two for each center; ● Since March 19, 2020 the Moscow Central Diameters pavilion is temporarily closed; ● All the questions on the prevention of coronavirus in Moscow transport are addressed to the dedicated hotline: 3210 for mobile calls and +7 (495) 539-54-54 for local calls; ● The reduced fare for schoolchildren of 5-11 grades, college students, graduate students, passengers over 65 years of age, people with chronic diseases has been canceled. The Moscow Metro ● All employees measure the temperature before entering a shift; ● Remote selective temperature measurement of passengers entering the lobby of metro stations is carried out using cameras with thermal imagers; ● In the metro trains of the Oka and Moscow series, air purification occurs directly during the movement of the train: more than 2.7 thousand cars of the Oka and Moscow series are equipped with ultraviolet lamps; ● Air filters in trains with built-in air conditioning are changed 2 times more often; ● 100% of the rolling stock are wet-cleaned and disinfected; ● 30% more air exchange in the Moscow Metro – 2 billion cubic meters of air is updated daily in the metro; ● The metro cars are washed outside automatically; ● Wet cleaning of metro cars with special attention paid to handrails, buttons and to those composition elements with which passengers interact more often; ● Daily additional cleaning of all stations and underpasses; ● Frequent disinfection of passenger infrastructure elements with which people interact in the lobby and on the platforms (handrails, turnstiles, entrance door handles, cash zones) – every 1,5-2 hours; ● More than 1.6 thousand ticket vending machines are washed every hour; ● The Moscow Metro vocational guidance centers are temporarily closed; ● The “Music in Metro”, “Guided Tours in Metro” and the Moscow Metro tourist bureau are temporarily closed; ● More than 2 000 employees disinfect passenger infrastructure daily; ● 60 liters of disinfection agent and 18 000 pairs of gloves are purchased for the Moscow Metro Passenger Mobility Center employees; ● The air system filters are changed 2 times more often; ● More than 90 tons of disinfectant agent are used in tunnels every night; ● Tunnels are washed with a special machine using a disinfectant; ● The Moscow Metro passenger zone is disinfected with hot air; ● Passengers are provided with recommendations on contactless payment; ● The Moscow Metro cashiers were provided with sanitizers and gloves; ● The Moscow Metro ventilation shafts are disinfected with hot air generators; ● Disinfectants and gloves are regularly procured; ● The operation mode of the metro tunnel ventilation has been increased; ● Twice a day, The Moscow Metro platforms are washed (in total, 413 thousand square meters); ● In the Moscow Metro there are stickers and audio alerts with a social distancing reminder for passengers; ● The Moscow Metro offers online tours and music gigs; ● Passengers will be able to renew their tickets ● 900 thousand square meters are daily cleaned and disinfected in the Moscow Metro; ● Payment for the right to trade in the metro infrastructure is canceled until July 1, 2020. The surface transport ● More than 8 thousand buses, trolleybuses, electric buses and trams are disinfected after shifts every day and cleaned at terminal stations; ● More than 2 thousand buses of commercial carriers undergo disinfection after every shift. Employees of the Transport Management Company control the disinfection process at 208 terminal stations; ● All inside surfaces are treated with special disinfectants, including the driver’s cab, handrails, glass and seats; ● Alkaline and chlorine-based products are used for cleaning and disinfection, while all safety standards are observed; ● The guanidine-based disinfectants are used, as they are proved to be effective against bacteria and viruses; ● All the disinfectant agents used by Moscow transport both at municipal and commercial carriers’ routes are recommended by the Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-Being; ● Before and after every shift, each of 10 000 Mosgortrans drivers and of 4000 commercial carriers’ drivers undergo a check-up with a mandatory temperature measurement; ● On-board ticket-selling is canceled; ● Payment is available via a Troika card, bank cards and mobile devices with contactless payment functions; ● 400 Mosgortrans inspectors were provided with sanitizers and gloves; ● Every day, 85 brigades sanitize the stop pavilions – it is more than 200 people; ● Almost 600 Mosgortrans inspectors measure temperature daily; ● Ultraviolet bactericidal irradiators for air disinfection are installed at major bus stations; ● Bus stations’ premises are regularly disinfected; ● The Transport Management Organization employees are provided with masks and gloves; ● The Moscow Metro and surface transport inspectors distribute leaflets to inform citizens over 65 years of age that they are subject to self- isolation; ● In buses, trolleybuses, electric buses and trams there are 40 thousand warning stickers to remind passengers of the need to keep a safe social distance; ● In surface transport, safety measures for drivers have also been strengthened - in buses, trolleybuses and electric buses, the front area is protected by a signal tape. Today similar solutions are used in Germany, the Czech Republic and other European countries. ● Special routes to cemeteries and memorial complexes located both in Moscow and the Moscow Region will not operate during the spring religious holidays. Suburban trains The Central Suburban Railway Company and the Moscow Central Diameters ● Contactless payment is recommended to all passengers; ● Cashiers, inspectors, local brigades, car-duty officers and depot workers are provided with sanitizers; ● More than 2.1 thousand liters of sanitizer were distributed to cashiers, inspectors and train drivers in the commuter trains; ● More than 2700 air disinfection systems operate daily in electric trains of the Central Suburban Passenger Company; ● The frequency of cleaning and disinfection at the MCD stations has been increased, now it is carried out 12 times a day; ● Every 2 hours validators, ticket machines and ticket offices are disinfected; ● More than 1500 liters of sanitizer were provided to the ticket offices at the stations; ● To increase the awareness of passengers about preventive measures, posters are placed at the stations, and audio clips about the necessary precautions are played in the station buildings; ● Audio-messages about necessary precautionary measures are repeated in trains every 20 minutes; ● The Moscow Central Diameters’ train Ivolga, the Nakhabino and Aeroexpress depots are disinfected by 130 employees in 24/7 mode; ● In the MCD trains, passengers are told how to recognize the first symptoms of coronavirus; ● More than 50 thousand medical masks and over 11 thousand pairs of gloves were provided to cashiers and inspectors; ● A special marking is applied at the 344 stations of the Central Suburban Passenger Company to maintain a safe distance between passengers; ● More than 15 thousand stickers with a request to keep a distance were placed in suburban trains; ● The Central Suburban Passenger Company disinfects trains with cold fog, which kills almost 100% of germs; ● A reminder to keep a social distance appeared on 44 electronic displays of 24 MCD stations; ● More than 90 employees disinfect the MCD stations three times a day; ● The Central Suburban Passenger Company turned on audio clips about the necessary precautions and the importance to stay at home; ● More than 120 thousand liters of disinfectant solution are daily used for cleaning at stations and trains of the Central Suburban Passenger Company. The Moscow-Tver Suburban Railway Company • Every 2 hours at each checkout of the Moscow-Tver Suburban Railway Company is wet-cleaned and aired, if possible; • The Moscow-Tver Suburban Railway Company ticket machines and turnstiles at stations are wiped with Biopag-D disinfectant every 2 hours; • 11 000 liters of disinfecting agent were purchased for cleaning; • At the terminal stations handrails, buttons and folding tables are cleaned; • Every day, more than 450 railcars undergo full wet cleaning and disinfection of the cabin during long-term parking and when entering the depot; • The Moscow-Tver Suburban Railway Company carries out handrails cleaning at terminal stations; • Wet-cleans and disinfects trains during long stops and at the depot; • All cashiers and inspectors measure temperature before entering a shift; • All front-line employees
