THEMy family and I so thatWARDEN more of you could enjoy it. I’m pleased to say that have been overwhelmed by the warm welcome and support we will be, thanks to the generosity of donors, live-streaming from the staff, students, Fellows and alumni.     Anti-Racism Resources Prepared for and by: The First Church in Oberlin United Church of Christ Part I: Statements Why Black Lives Matter: Statement of the United Church of Christ Our faith's teachings tell us that each person is created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27) and therefore has intrinsic worth and value. So why when Jesus proclaimed good news to the poor, release to the jailed, sight to the blind, and freedom to the oppressed (Luke 4:16-19) did he not mention the rich, the prison-owners, the sighted and the oppressors? What conclusion are we to draw from this? Doesn't Jesus care about all lives? Black lives matter. This is an obvious truth in light of God's love for all God's children. But this has not been the experience for many in the U.S. In recent years, young black males were 21 times more likely to be shot dead by police than their white counterparts. Black women in crisis are often met with deadly force. Transgender people of color face greatly elevated negative outcomes in every area of life. When Black lives are systemically devalued by society, our outrage justifiably insists that attention be focused on Black lives. When a church claims boldly "Black Lives Matter" at this moment, it chooses to show up intentionally against all given societal values of supremacy and superiority or common-sense complacency. By insisting on the intrinsic worth of all human beings, Jesus models for us how God loves justly, and how his disciples can love publicly in a world of inequality.

    Royal Lodge of Friendship – Famous Brethren Bro. Nevill Josiah Aylmer Coghill VC. (25 January 1852 – 22 January 1879) Nevill Coghill was the eldest son of Sir John Joscelyn Coghill, Baronet, and his wife, the Hon. Katherine Frances, daughter of John Plunket, Baron Plunket. The painter Sir Egerton Coghill, Baronet, was his younger brother. Coghill was educated at Haileybury. He was commissioned in the 24th Regiment and served as Aide- de-Camp to Sir Arthur Cunyinghame in the Galeka Campaign of 1877. As a young Sub-Lieutenant in the 1st Battalion, 24th Regiment, the King’s Own Scottish Borderers, Coghill aged 22 years, applied for and was accepted a member of the Lodge of Friendship No. 278. In the Masonic Register of members of our District he is recorded as having been initiated on the 2nd September 1874, passed on the 17th of the same month, and raised just a few weeks later, on the 7th October. Bro. Coghill’s rapid initiation into the three degrees in such a short space of time, (including the holding of an emergency meeting for such a purpose) was due to the Battalion’s imminent departure from the Garrison early in November. Only a few months earlier another Lieutenant from the same Regiment had become a joining member of the Friendship Lodge, he was Lt. Teignmouth Melville the man with whom Goghill would later perish. Coghill was twenty-six years old and a lieutenant in the 1st Battalion, 24th Regiment of Foot (later the South Wales Borderers), during the Zulu Wars, when the following deed took place for which he was awarded the VC.

Friday 14th September 2018 Speech from Kiri Allan Labour Party Overview of New Zealand’s position • Our Government is committed to supporting global action on climate change. Due to New Zealand’s emissions profile, we are in a unique position to be a global leader on emissions reductions and adaptation in the agricultural sector. • Our Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has called climate change the ‘nuclear free moment of this generation’. • Recent international agreements – the Paris Climate Agreement and the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals are reflections of the global community’s attitude towards addressing climate change. • We are working to provide the right research, tools, frameworks and policies that will enable enable farmers to reduce their on-farm emissions and switch to more sustainable land-use practices. This work helps to ensure our products have the environmental credentials and status needed to sustainably add value to the sector. • Our belief is that we need to reduce agricultural emissions, while maintaining strong economies and productive and resilient sectors capable of meeting the food demand of an exponentially growing world population. • Another 2.3 billion people will join the global population by 2050, and the increasing food demand means we will need to produce more food in the next 50 years, than in the past 500. • Agriculture contributes to climate change, producing about 12% of global greenhouse gas emissions, and is heavily effected by climate change with more extreme weather events, unpredictable yields and variable productivity in both crop and livestock sectors.

    46 Saving the Queen's Colour Just one hundred years ago, Cetewayo, King of the Zulus, pitted his Impi against the might of the British Army. On 22nd January, 1879, 11 days after the British invaded Zululand, he dealt Lord Chelmsford's army a crippling blow at Isandhlwana, but that same evening his men were turned back into Zululand by the defenders of Rorke's Drift. Victoria, Queen of England, approved the award of eleven Victoria Crosses to the defenders of Rorke's Drift. Thirty years later, when the first posthumous awards of the Victoria Cross were made, two other Anglo-Zulu War heroes, Lieu­ tenant Teignmouth Melvill and Lieutenant Nevill Coghill, who had lost their lives in trying to carry the Queen's Colour of the 24th Regiment to safety across the Buffalo River after Isandhlwana, were honoured in this way. Letters announcing the posthumous awards of the Victoria Cross, were sent to the nearest relatives of the dead soldiers, Sir Egerton Coghill and Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Melvill. The former letter, now in the possession of Sir Patrick Coghill, reads' 012/2199 (M.S.3.) War Office, London, S.W., 6th February, 1907 Sir, His Majesty the King has been graciously pleased to approve of the Decoration of the Victoria Cross being delivered to the representatives of those who fell in the performance of acts of valour, and with reference to whom it was officially notified that they would have been recommended to Her late Majesty for that distinction had they sur­ vived. I have therefore to transmit to you a Victoria Cross engraved with the name of your late brother Lieutenant N.

Oral Item: Review of Working for Families Portfolio Social Development and Employment On 12 May 2021, the Cabinet Social Wellbeing Committee (SWC): 1 noted that in 2019, SWC agreed to a review of Working for Families (the Review) as part of the Welfare Overhaul work programme [SWC-19-MIN-0168]; 2 noted that Income Support Ministers have agreed to bring forward the Review and determined its scope; 3 noted that Income Support Ministers will have joint oversight of the Review, with the Minister for Social Development and Employment as Lead Minister; 4 noted that officials intend to provide advice to Income Support Ministers on initial options and next steps for the Review by 31 July 2021.
