Invitations for early expressions of interest to deliver management/ leadership development for Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust (LTHT).

Organisations interested in tendering for the contract to deliver accredited management and leadership development programmes are invited, in the first instance to submit an early expression of interest. (Extensive detail is not required at this stage.)

Applications should be submitted in writing to Jayne Collingwood [email protected] by 5pm on 6th January 2017.

The submission should cover;

 Structure and duration of programmes  Qualification standards  Indicative pricing  Quality assurance processes  Resilience in delivery  Learning outcomes

If successful, you will be invited to give a presentation on Thursday 19th January 2017 at St James Hospital, Leeds.

In relation to the programmes, it is envisaged that LTHT will be responsible for:

 Recruiting onto the programmes  Provision of venues  Providing general administrative support (not including printing or provision of training materials)

1 ORGANISATIONAL BACKGROUND

Leeds Teaching Hospitals is one of the largest Trusts in the UK seeing approximately one million patients each year with an income of £970m and a staff of 12,979.5 full time equivalents. The estate is spread over five sites:

 Leeds General Infirmary  St James’s University Hospital  Chapel Allerton Hospital  Hospital  Wharfedale Hospital

The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust incorporating: Chapel Allerton Hospital, Leeds Cancer Centre, Leeds Children’s Hospital, Leeds Dental Institute, Leeds General Infirmary, Seacroft Hospital, St James’s University Hospital, Wharfedale Hospital. Clinical services are delivered from these five sites owned by the Trust and a number of rented sites both in Leeds and in other parts of .

The Trust serves a local population of 750,000 with a tertiary population of 2.3 million and runs a number of clinical services that are centred in only a handful of hospitals in the UK. More details www.leedsth.nhs.uk .

2 SUMMARY OF REQUIREMENTS

LTHT are looking to work with one provider (or consortium of providers with a designated lead) to deliver the following;

 Facilitate effective engagement and on-going monitoring  Offer a quality learning experience  Support Learner progression  Provide value for money  Ensure business resilience and continuity.

3 CURRENT POSITION

Currently we deliver the following;

We are looking to replace this with a suite of programmes, outlined in the table below.

Develop personal management level capability; make effective use of information in decision-making, operations and the development of the skills in managing people. 20 To support managers who have the authority and Advanced personal inspiration to translate organisational level strategy into effective operational performance. Develop managers to build on their strategic management and leadership skills and to focus on the requirements of implementing the organisation’s strategy.

4 APPRENTICESHIP LEVY

We would like to take full advantage of any apprenticeship standards to use the levy for funding where possible. We also offer an introductory programme already for those with little or no management /leadership training, which learners could complete before the entry level programme. The delivery of programmes is to begin from April 2017 onwards.
