Islanding Scheme Covering Bengaluru Metropolitan Area
Southern Regional Power Committee Bengaluru Minutes of the Meeting to deliberate on Islanding Scheme for Bangalore, held on 16.02.2021 through WebEx. A meeting to discuss formation of Islanding Scheme for Bangalore was held on 16.02.2021 under the chairmanship of Member Secretary (MS), SRPC in on-line mode though WebEx. The list of participants is attached at Annexure-I. 2. MS, SRPC welcomed all the participants to the meeting. He informed the forum that in the meeting held on 28.12.2020, to review Islanding Schemes in the country, Hon’ble Minister of State (IC) for Power and New & Renewable Energy, Government of India directed that Islanding Schemes should be designed for all major cities of the country, including Bangalore. Accordingly, SRPC was directed to take steps for devising an Islanding scheme covering Bangalore area. Member Secretary pointed out that absence of embedded generation has been a major drawback to have islanding scheme in Bangalore. However, considering the economy-driving aspects of Bangalore, like IT sector, Medical companies, Laboratories, Defence installations, and metro rail, etc., it is sensible to design and put in place an apt Islanding scheme for Bangalore area so that all its major loads can be guaranteed to remain immune to external grid failures. 3. Then, Superintending Engineer (P&SS), SRPC presented the philosophy adopted in identifying the Islanding Schemes that are under operation in Southern Region (SR), and detailed the guidelines being followed to form Islanding. The salient aspects, as given under, were explained: Approved Islanding Schemes in southern region are non-adaptive in nature. -

CHAPTER-I! FORMATION OF DEVASWOM DEPARTMENT The year 1811 is important in the history of temple administration in Travancore as it was the year in which the state government assumed direct management of 348 major and 1123 minor devaswoms on the initiative of resident dewan, Col. Munro, with the approval of the sovereign, Rani Gowri Lakshmi Bai (1810- 1815). The reasons stated by Col. Munro for assumption of such temples were many and manifold. The sannad written by him on 3rd Kanni 987 M.E (September 1811) was a clear evidence to substantiate the reasons attributed to his act of assumption of temples'. The Circumstances which lead to the formation of the devaswom department originated from the ugly state of administration of temples by the uralars, the temple trustees, that culminated into the take over of such temples by Col. Munro. Email: Abstract: Distribution of butterfly species along the latitudinal and habitat gradients of the Western Ghats was studied. The Western Ghats was divided into 14 latitude zones and the species diversity in each latitude zone, along with habitats of their occurrence, were studied using the data from literature survey for the entire Western Ghats as well as data from personal observations in the areas between 14°N to 20°N latitudes. Out of 334 species recorded from the Western Ghats, 58 species were found in all latitudinal zones, while 5 species were reported in only one latitudinal zone. Further, southern Western Ghats consisted of more number of species and more number of genera as compared to northern Western Ghats. Latitudinal zones between 10°N to 12°N had most of the Western Ghats endemic species. Habitat wise distribution of species revealed three significant clusters grossly separated by the level of human disturbance. Evergreen forest habitats supported maximum number of species endemic to the Western Ghats.
