Da die Spezifikation für das Format der Audio-CD (auch gerne als CDDA 1 bzw. „Red- Book“ bezeichnet) keine sonderlich gute Fehlerkorrektur vorsieht, ist auch heutzutage ein Auslesen der Daten nur mit Vorsicht durchzuführen. Wer also keine überraschenden Knack- und Plopp-Geräusche in der Zieldatei hören möchte, sollte ein entsprechend gutes Programm benutzen. Da es bis 1999 kein passendes Programm für diese Aufgabe gab, programmierte der Autor Andre Wiethoff das Programm „Exact Audio Copy“. Dieses Programm wird in dieser Anleitung die Hauptrolle übernehmen. Um nicht zu viel Platz auf der Festplatte zu beanspruchen, sollte man die ausgelesenen Daten am besten komprimieren. Dies kann auf zwei Arten geschehen: • Verlustlos • Verlustbehaftet Die folgenden Abschnitte befassen sich daher zunächst mit der Auswahl des für Sie geeignetsten Codec. Codec steht für Coder/Decoder und bezeichnet ein (oder mehrere) Modul(e) das/die einerseits die Kodierung (in unserem Fall eine Kompression) und auf der anderen Seite die Dekodierung (in unserem Fall die Dekompression) in das Originalformat übernimmt/übernehmen. 1.1 Rechtliches... Die Antwort ist relativ einfach: Man möchte Platz sparen, sei es auf seinem MP3/4 Player oder der heimischen Festplatte. Betrachten wir zunächst die original Datenrate einer CD: Dort findet man 44100 bps2 Sample-Rate * 2 Kanäle (also Stereo) * 16 Bit Abtasttiefe => 1411200 bps => 176400 Bytes pro Sekunde = 10.584.000 Bytes pro Minute. Das sind also gut 10 MB pro Minute. Hätte man sich also vor ein paar Jahren einen damals aktuellen MP3 Player mit 128 MB Speicher zugelegt, so wäre dort Platz für knapp 12,8 Minuten Musik gewesen. Um also entsprechend viel Musik auf seinen MP3 Player zu bekommen, war man durchaus gewillt Qualitätsverluste in Kauf zu nehmen. Daher bezeichnet man die Kodierungsverfahren

    I've just joined up and tried dBpoweramp, as I have so far been using Exact Audio copy (EAC) and have been looking around if it supports something akin to iTunesEncode which I've been using on EAC. There may be a guide or How-To somewhere, but I mostly came across a few hints in posts that it could use iTunesEncode, and finally found a reference to the CLI Encoder. So I've installed everything and experimented with the CLI Encoder and iTunesEncode with the help of the helpful Help documentation (more than can be said for EAC; it's developed by a German student with limited time and limited English, so I don't blame him) . So, I thought I'd take what I've learned and produce a How-To guide for using iTunesEncode with dBpoweramp Music Converter. Parts are modified from the dBpoweramp Dynamic CLI Encoder help page and Dynamic CLI Tutorial, other information is derived from posts by the iTunesEncoder developer. Enjoy. If, like me, you're an iTunes user, and perhaps have an iPod, you may wish for greater integration between dBpoweramp Music Converter (dMC) and iTunes, and you may wish to not only have iTunes encode to AAC and tag your songs, but to have them automatically entered into the iTunes library without manually importing them. Well, this is possible because iTunes and QuickTime have an API, or programmer interface, which 3rd party programs can use to convert, tag, and import songs or audiofiles into iTunes. However, on Windows, I'm only aware of one small utility that does this: iTunesEncode.
