LaVilla District LaVilla is one of Jacksonville’s most historic neighborhoods and it is in transition. It has several landmark buildings, including the restored train station - now the Prime Osborn Convention Center - and the reopened Ritz Theater. Public & Design Guidelines • The Ritz Theatre district and the Urban League project will form the cultural center of LaVilla • Pedestrian connections along Duval, Monroe, Lee and Jefferson Streets will be enhanced, consistent with the streetscape standards • The LaVilla neighborhood will be buffered from the visual and noise impacts of Interstate 95 by green open space • Commercial, Industrial, Neighborhood-serving retail and incubator business opportunities will be encouraged throughout LaVilla • Urban housing types such as warehouse lofts and walk-up apartments above ground floor commercial will be encouraged between Broad Street and Jefferson Streets • The urban street pattern of LaVilla will be respected by maximizing lot coverage, by avoiding low density development and by bringing uses close to the sidewalk • Transit-oriented development will be encouraged adjacent to the existing skyway stations

Skyway The JTA Skyway is a 2.5 mile long, fully automated, elevated monorail system gliding high above the busy streets of the Downtown core and crossing the St. Johns River to Kings Avenue on the Southbank. It features eight stations- five in Downtown and three on the Southbank- providing convenient access to businesses and government offices, restaurants and shops and museums and entertainment venues. Traveling via the Skyway is a comfortable and efficient with quiet, climate controlled, non-polluting vehicles departing stations at six-minute intervals (every three minuets from Central Station) and electronic message boards with real- time arrival and departure information at every statin. All Skyway station are monitored by closed-circuit TV, and each trail is equipped with two-way voice communication and video cameras. In keeping with JTA’s original people mover plan, Park-n-Ride lots at the Convention Center, and Kings Avenue stations allow employees, residents and visitors to leave their cars on the periphery of Downtown and travel in to and out of the core without the hassles of traffic and parking.
