At the KonAroma farm, it's our favorite time of the year - the beginning of the 2019 / 2020 Harvest and Holiday Season!
It's a very different time on the Big Island of Hawaii from a year ago when the ravages of the Kilauea Volcano and Hurricane Lane left their impact on many in their destructive paths.
Fortunately, only heavy rains have been a minor issue this year. In the Kona coffee belt, the September rains have resulted in bigger, better and more abundant cherry. The picking season is in full swing with typical picks coming in every three weeks.
The first 10 days of November are the Kona Coffee Belt's time to shine with gala festival days. Many come from all over the world to observe Kona's diverse culture and cooperative efforts in making the 100% Kona coffee a special delight to savor. Mahalo, Cindy, Dennis and the Team at KonAroma

Our bakery and coffee shop customer, the Jampot in Eagle Harbor, Michigan sent in their KonAroma medium roast for review. We were all delighted with the high score.
In a blind assessment, the Review board's bottom line states, "A plush smooth roast-touched Kona."
Positive Thinking... We know how important it is to keep a positive mindset. To do so, 85 percent of Americans are making a conscious effort to think positively each morning, according to a new survey. A survey of 2,000 people looked at the ways in which people stay positive throughout the day and found a resounding 88 percent consider themselves positive people overall. For half of those surveyed the morning can't start out positively unless they begin it enjoying a morning cup of coffee (KonAroma). In fact, four in five people agree their daily cup of coffee helps them stay positive and productive throughout the day.

How To Store Coffee The greatest enemies to coffee are air, moisture, heat, and light.
To preserve your beans' fresh roasted flavor as long as possible, store them in an opaque, air- tight container at room temperature.
Coffee beans are beautiful but avoid clear canisters which will allow light to compromise the taste of your coffee.

Did You Know You Could Use KonAroma...... as a natural dye?
Coffee grounds can even be used to deepen the color of dark hair. Used coffee grounds make a great non-toxic alternative to traditional dyes. Simply rewet them and use them to dye paper or fabric or even darken brunette hair.
....and to clean your fireplace? Cleaning ashes from a wood-burning fireplace can be an incredibly messy task. By scattering used coffee grounds over the ashes, you can weigh them down and prevent smoke clouds from forming.

Mocha Macadamia Nut Cookies...Yum! Ingredients: 1/2 cup brewed KonAroma coffee 1 ¾ cups brown sugar 1 cup butter 2 eggs 3 ½ cups flour 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp mace ½ tsp salt ½ tsp cinnamon 1 cup dark or semi-sweet chocolate chips 1 cup macadamia nuts, chopped
Directions: Cream coffee, sugar, butter and eggs till fluffy. Sift dry ingredients together. Add quickly to mixture. Stir in chips and nuts. Chill dough for at least 1 hour.
Preheat oven to 400° F. Drop dough by rounded spoonful onto greased or parchment covered baking sheets. Bake 8 to 10 minutes till edges are light brown. Cool on wire racks.
Makes about 4 dozen.
