FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: July 25, 2019 A’s Reinstate LHP Brett Anderson from PL; Option RHP Tanner Anderson to Las Vegas C Nick Hundley Reinstated from the Injured List and Designated For Assignment OAKLAND, Calif. – The Oakland A’s reinstated left-handed pitcher Brett Anderson from the paternity list and optioned right-handed pitcher Tanner Anderson to Triple-A Las Vegas, the club announced today. The A’s also reinstated catcher Nick Hundley from the 10-day injured list and designated him for assignment. Brett Anderson was placed on the paternity list on Monday. He is 9-5 with a 3.82 ERA and .253 opponents batting average in 20 starts with Oakland and his nine wins are two more than his combined total from the previous three seasons. Anderson has his most wins, starts and innings pitched (115.0) since 2015 with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Tanner Anderson was recalled from Las Vegas on Tuesday for his second stint with the A’s but did not pitch. He went 0-3 with a 6.04 ERA and .309 opponents batting average in five starts during his first stint from June 10 to July 4. Anderson is also 6-4 with a 5.54 ERA and .293 opponents average in 13 games, 12 starts, with the Aviators. Hundley was batting .200 with two home runs and five RBI in 31 games when he was placed on the 10-day injured list June 8 with back spasms. He also had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee June 18. Hundley went 5-for-25 (.200) with a home run and four RBI on a seven-game rehab assignment with the A’s Gold squad in the Arizona Rookie League and Single-A Stockton. MEDIA CLIPS – Nov. 28, 2018 Desmond eyes more production in 2019 Thomas Harding | MLB.com | Nov. 27th, 2018 DENVER -- Ian Desmond spent the 2018 season hanging onto the number that mattered -- the one in the Rockies' win column. Many of the other numbers weren't kind to him. After a difficult and injury-filled 2017 season, which began his five-year contract worth $70 million, Desmond was healthy enough for 160 games in '18. But he batted .236 and wasn't treated kindly by the Wins Above Replacement stat -- minus- 0.7, per FanGraphs, and minus-0.6, per Baseball-Reference. As a comparison, Desmond averaged 2.2 and 2.1 WAR, respectively, over his seven full seasons before signing with Colorado. But with consistent production absent, Desmond at times fulfilled the Rockies' contention that he is a winning player. His 22 home runs, 20 stolen bases, 82 runs and 88 RBIs in 2018 are stats many players would love, and the Rockies will tell you he had a knack for the right, heady play during the team's second-half run. Hey, it all made him one of baseball's most interesting figures on Twitter; many games began with vitriolic reaction to him being in the lineup, and more than a handful ended with an apology after a late home run. Often fans familiar with his community involvement and interaction jumped to his defense. "The one thing I can say, I feel like no matter what the situation was, no matter what the numbers said, I feel like I came out and tried to do something to help the team win," Desmond said while clearing out of Coors Field after the Rockies were eliminated from the National League Division Series by the Brewers.

That lasted all of two batters. Jose Abreu homered two outs into the first inning, and it proved to be a preview of chaos to come for the neck-turning Giants, who turned and watched a whopping six home runs leave the yard in a 13-1 beatdown by the White Sox. Samardzija gave up four, matching a career high, and Josh Osich gave up the other two. It tied the team record for most homers surrendered in a game, the data dating to 1913. In 2015, Samardzija pitched for the White Sox and gave up 29 home runs, which led the American League. He was back in the ballpark for the first time as a Giant, and he was haunted by the long ball again. 1 Tim Anderson homered in the second, Yolmer Sanchez homered in the fourth and Avisail Garcia homered in the fifth.
