The aftermath of a line brawl between the Condors and the Aces in Alaska left Bakersfi eld not only short a few players, but also without Head Coach Marty Raymond for two games. With no head coach, and nobody in Anchorage familiar with the team that could fi ll in, Doolan and Lindsey took over behind the bench for the fi nal two games in Anchorage. “It was defi nitely a unique experience,” said Lindsey. “When something happens on the ice, you’re always looking back at the coach wondering what is going to happen. The guys actually did a good job coaching themselves. It was more policing them than anything else.” And despite that they were acting as head coach (Doolan) and General Manger (Lindsey); they still had their regular duties to attend to as well. “Jay is the GM because he fi res people, and I’m the coach because I’m a good guy,” Doolan explained jovially. “Of course, I had to make sure I did my job fi rst, and I tried to help Doolan do his job as well,” Lindsey said. Doolan was swamped before the game, with new players coming into the team, he had to take name plates off some of the jerseys and sew on new ones. Lindsey was willing to help. Both commented that, for the most part, the players basically coached themselves. “I felt like the Queen of England, I was just a fi gurehead back there,” Doolan said. “Marty had the guys prepared, so I just opened the door and told them to go.” Initially, Doolan and Lindsey thought they would only be behind the bench for one game, but after an extra-game suspension was handed to Marty Raymond for texting instructions to Doolan during the game, they found themselves back for a second try. “You’re second game is always easier for sure. During the fi rst one, you’re a little bit nervous,” Lindsey commented. “The second one is easier, and it goes on from there, but hopefully we don’t have to do it again.” Doolan shined as the coach in his second game, earning a win to improve his record to 1-1 in his career. “That second game we were a couple of guys short so I reminded Nags (Naglich) that we had our timeout available if we wanted to use it,” explained Doolan. He also gave insight towards his ability to motivate the team as well. “I just told the guys to go out, you’re adults, you’ve played the game your whole lives. You know what to do, so go out and do it. And of course, get me back to .500!” He also commented that he enjoyed his second game a little bit more. “I had more fun, because Marty couldn’t be in the building bothering me with texts.” Lindsey is not eager to get back behind the bench. When asked if he wanted to do it again, he said, “Absolutely not, I’m going to keep my medical job, it makes me a lot less nervous.” CONDORS STATS As of 02/22/11 Name GP G A PTS +/- PIM PPG SHG Pt/G PIMPG 10 Brad Snetsinger (total) LW 51 16 28 44 0 48 5 2 0.86 0.94 22 Stephane Goulet RW 49 18 23 41 -1 42 2 0 0.84 0.86 11 Vyacheslav Trukhno F 33 9 27 36 2 36 2 0 1.09 1.09 9 Andrew Ianiero F 46 11 20 31 7 24 0 1 0.67 0.52 15 Adam Naglich C 48 9 22 31 -3 18 2 2 0.65 0.38 32 Pascal Morency RW 33 14 8 22 -1 111 4 0 0.67 3.36 * 18 Michael Gergen (total) F 44 7 15 22 5 24 0 0 0.5 0.55 7 Phil Paquet (total) D 52 2 19 21 -10 80 0 0 0.4 1.54 * 19 Joel Broda C 19 9 10 19 2 31 1 0 1 1.63 2 Evan Stoflet D 49 4 13 17 8 55 0 1 0.35 1.12 36 Joey Ryan D 40 4 12 16 -1 99 1 0 0.4 2.48 25 Bobby Robins F 27 8 7 15 6 117 3 0 0.56 4.33 * 6 Tyler Gotto (total) D 44 5 9 14 8 10 2 0 0.32 0.23 * 3 Erik Burgdoerfer D 49 2 10 12 11 28 0 0 0.24 0.57 * 27 Jean-Marc Beaudoin F 40 4 7 11 -5 12 0 1 0.28 0.3 24 J.D.
