  • A Rövidpályás Gyorskorcsolyázás Hazai Története
Alan Rattray (USA) 47.090 1. Liu Shaolin Sándor (HUN) 41.485 2. Harry Spragg (GBR) 47.420 2. Dajing Wu (CHN) 41.550 3. Jim Lynch (AUS) 47.610 3. Liu Shaoang (HUN) 41.994 4. Hirosi Toda (JPN) 1:02.270 4.

  • Hungary's Liu Brothers Leading the Charge for Honors at ISU European
January 22, 2020 Debrecen, Hungary Hungary’s Liu brothers leading the charge for honors at ISU European Short Track Speed Skating Championships The 24th ISU European Short Track Speed Skating Championships take place from January 24-26 in Debrecen, Hungary – and the host nation will have high hopes of winning a clutch of gold medals. Budapest-born brothers Shaolin Sandor and Shaoang Liu have been among Europe’s elite racers for several years and became national heroes two seasons ago when they formed half of the 5000m Men’s Relay team – along with Viktor Knoch and Csaba Burjan – who won gold at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games. Hungary is a proud Olympic nation, with 178 gold medals in the summer Games – placing it ninth on the overall table – but the team’s heroics in the Republic of Korea led to the nation’s first winter gold. Since then, the siblings have made serious progress individually too: they’ve regularly made podiums on the ISU World Cup Short Track Speed Skating circuit, and Shaolin Sandor was crowned overall ISU European Short Track Speed Skating Champion last season, with Shaoang winning the silver. The duo have already expressed excitement about this competition coming to their homeland and identified Debrecen as the focal point of their season. They’re certainly in suitable form to enter the tournament with real optimism. Shaolin Sandor, 24, won the ISU World Cup Short Track Speed Skating 500m in Montreal earlier this season; Shaoang, 21, took the win in the same distance in Nagoya. In Shanghai, meanwhile, Shaolin Sandor won both 500m gold medals.

January 26, 2020 Debrecen, Hungary Liu brothers share the spoils in Debrecen but miss out on relay gold Home favourites Shaoang and Shaolin Sandor Liu won four more medals between them at the European Short Track Championships in Debrecen, Hungary, but were denied relay gold after being penalised in the final event. Dominant Dutch skater Suzanne Schulting added three more titles to her Saturday tally. Hungary’s Liu brothers continued their dominance in the second day of the 2020 European Short Track Championships in Debrecen, Hungary, Shaolin Sandor Liu winning the 1000m final just three- hundredths of a second ahead of his younger brother Shaoang. Russia’s Semen Elistratov finished third. “On 1000m we are very good, ’Ado’ [Shaoang] and I," Shaolin Sandor Liu said. "We can help each other so that I go in the first place and Ado follows me. With this tactics we can easily be in the top. "In the final we had the same tactics so it was kind of easy for us to dominate the others." The brothers were seen playing rock paper scissors between the races at Fönix Arena, but Shaolin Sandor insisted that they weren’t using the game as a way of deciding who will cross the finish line first. "Shaoang is better than me at it, so he usually wins," he said of the schoolyard game. "We didn’t do a rock paper scissors before the race to decide who is going to win this time. We just try to go out and race everyone for themselves and watch out for each other but it turned out well so we are happy." Shaoang seals overall championship Shaolin Sandor’s gold doubled his tally for the weekend having won the 500m yesterday, but it was brother Shaoang, 21, above, who secured the overall title on 77 points, just two more than his 24- year-old sibling.

January 25, 2020 Debrecen, Hungary Unstoppable Schulting takes milestone 500m title as Liu brothers thrill home crowd Suzanne Schulting (NED) dominated the first day of finals at the 2020 European Short Track Championships in Debrecen (HUN), defending her European 1500m title and leading the 500m final from start to finish, while Hungary's own Liu brothers won a gold each in the two men's events. Dutch world No.1 Schulting has topped the podium at Olympic Games, World Championships and World Cups, and came to Hungary as the reigning European overall champion, but won a milestone career-first international 500m gold medal as she beat Italy’s Martina Valcepina and Natalia Maliszewska (POL) in the final. ”It’s really special,” the 22-year-old said. ”Normally it’s the 1000m and 1500m that I win and I usually just skate the 500m in tournaments like the Europeans and the Worlds, or in the World Cups just to keep it up, so I’m really happy with this. ”I was skating against the top of the world. Natalia, Lara (compatriot Van Ruijven, who finished fourth) and Martina are so, so good and always skating a finals in this distance, so I’m just really happy with that. ”It was the highlight of the day.” Maliszewska showed no sadness over having to settle for bronze in losing the title she won last year to the dominant Dutch skater. ”I’m almost crying so I’m very happy with this,” she said. ”I’m coming home with a European bronze medal so it matters a lot.

  • New Opportunities As the Netherlands Welcomes the World’S Best Short Track Speed Skaters
March 4, 2021 Dordrecht, The Netherlands New opportunities as the Netherlands welcomes the world’s best Short Track Speed Skaters The 2021 ISU World Short Track Speed Skating Championships take place in Dordrecht, the Netherlands, from March 5 to 7. The field is as wide open as it ever has been, following the withdrawal of the Republic of Korea and China teams from the competition. Men’s competition wide open There have been only four Men’s overall champions from outside these two nations this century. The 2019 ISU World Short Track Speed Skating Champion, Lim Hyojun (KOR) will not get to defend his title, nor will 2019/20 No.1-ranked skater Park Ji Won (KOR) get a shot at his first. Lee June Seo (KOR), Hwang Dae Heon (KOR), 2016 overall winner Han Tianyu (CHN) and 500m specialist Wu Dajing (CHN) will also miss out. There is added unpredictability due to the pandemic, too. As Israel’s Vladislav Bykanov told us recently, it is normally the first ISU World Cup Short Track Speed Skating race of the season where you see outsiders making it on to the podium, or big names struggling to get going. This year, there have been no ISU World Cup Short Track Speed Skating events meaning the athletes’ usual rhythm of peaking for the World Championships has not been possible. The outcome of this was illustrated at the recent ISU European Short Track Speed Skating Championships in Gdansk, Poland, which was many of the continent’s men’s first race of the season. Semen Elistratov (RUS) won the title ahead of the Hungarian favorites, Shaolin Sandor Liu and his younger brother, Shaoang Liu, who didn’t seem at their brilliant race-fit best.

  • Old Favorites, New Winners and Double Gold on Day to Savor in Dordrecht
March 6, 2021 Dordrecht, The Netherlands Old favorites, new winners and double gold on day to savor in Dordrecht The Dordrecht 2021 ISU World Short Track Speed Skating Championships saw old favorites return to the top, new champions crowned – and an extraordinary double gold scored under highly emotional circumstances. Charles Hamelin (CAN) showed that there was life in a 36- year-old racer yet, winning the men’s 1500m in fine style. Shaoang Liu (HUN), meanwhile, claimed his first world title, with gold in the 500m. But the day truly belonged to Suzanne Schulting (NED). Not only did she put herself firmly on the road to her second overall title, but she also paid tribute to her late teammate Lara van Ruijven (NED) in the process. It was a day to savor for Dutch Short Track speed skating. Emotional double for Schulting Suzanne Schulting (NED) got her Dordrecht 2021 ISU World Short Track Speed Skating Championships off to the perfect start on Saturday, winning both 1500m and 500m gold, under emotional circumstances. The results put her in prime position to lift her second overall title on Sunday. Schulting, who won the last World Championship overall title back in 2019, and the last two European Championship overall titles, came into the competition as hot favorite, and did not disappoint. She took the 1500m gold with ease. Hitting the front with five laps to go, Schulting simply applied too much speed for a high-quality field to cope with. Left in her wake, a crash resulted as the rest tried to keep up.
