An NOC may have more than two (2) singles players ranked 1 to 8 in the European Ranking List in this event. In such a case, the NOC can enter any two (or one) singles players. PRESS RELEASE 25 countries to compete at Singapore Badminton Open 2019 as registration closed Badminton Powerhouses Indonesia, Korea and Denmark latest to announce entry [Singapore, 27 February 2019] – The 2019 edition of the Singapore Badminton Open is set to be action packed with all the World Number 1 shuttlers confirming their participation for the tournament in April. The final day of registration saw the likes of Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo amongst the latest entries that will be in contention at the Singapore Indoor Stadium from 9-14 April. Part of the HSBC BWF World Tour Series, the Singapore leg boasts a star-studded line-up that would undoubtedly send waves of excitement through the badminton scene. Gideon and Sukamuljo completes the list of World Ranked #1 shuttlers that will compete at the Singapore Open. The Men’s Doubles Asian Games 2018 champions will be part of a 50 strong contingent from Indonesia heading to The Republic. The Indonesian pair will be joined by compatriots Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, ranked #7 in the World and World Ranked #9 Jonatan Christie, also a 2018 Asian Games champion. Ginting and Christie enters what is already a stellar Men’s Singles category, alongside the likes of Kento Momota, Lin Dan, Chen Long and Chou Tien Chen. Representing Denmark in Men’s Singles will be World Ranked #6 Viktor Axelsen, he will be accompanied by fellow countrymen and former European champion Jan O Jorgensen. Amongst their ranks is also Danish starlet, Anders Antonsen, who most recently stunned Momota when he overcame the World Number 1 at the 2019 Indonesia Masters. -

Art & Design – On Monday 27 November we LENZIE ACADEMY appointed Mrs Gayle Porter to the NEWSLETTER substantive position of Teacher of Art & Design within the school. Mrs Porter has been SESSION 2017- 2018 November 2017 with us for nearly two years as a temporary teacher so we are delighted that we have been able to secure her services on a permanent basis. Looking forward to December I will be attending the EDC Christmas Concert on Monday 4 December in the Concert Hall Welcome to our November newsletter. where many of our pupils will be participating The month of November is always a very long as part of the EDC bands and orchestra. We and challenging month for all pupils and staff will also be holding our own Christmas within the school, especially Senior Phase Concert on Monday 11 December as well as pupils who are busy working on assignments our S1/2 and S3/4 Christmas Dances and our and/or sitting important assessments in their S5/6 Christmas Ball. Our S1 pupils will also be various courses. We also have our annual visiting the Pantomime and thereafter we will Children in Need week during this time and be having the Santa dash on the day on 21 we also hold our Remembrance Assemblies December before collapsing for a day and re- for all pupils in the school. Just in case we charging our energies for our own family were not busy enough we held the Lenzie events around the Christmas holidays.
